Town vs Gown 2007

      The Oxford Sports Council confirms that this years annual Town v Gown pool competition is to be held on Saturday 10th February 2007 at the Osney Arms starting at 12pm , and will hopefully be sending an representative down to watch proceeding sometime during the day.

 

      Presentations for all the sports (which has reached as many as 36 over the years) will be held at the end of March/early April (date to be confirmed) probably reverting back to the Town Hall – Oxford by the lord mayor.

 

      Early conformations in the Town team are:

 

Malc Lewis (Captain) making my 13th consecutive appearance.

Nathan Ball 6th appearance

Lee Challis 3rd consecutive  appearance

 

      The format is a 7 man team each playing a best of 5 frame match, 1 point per man/match.

Yeah I have to agree the bookies probably won't even take bets except on how many FRAMES the gown team might get between them.

I think these matches are best of 5 and if that is the case I score the match with gown less than 10 frames in total.

Town team winning with 18 or more out of a maximum 21

Sorry Barney but get down off your soap box and read the post again all he has done is point out the fact that all of the Players represent other clubs as well as the ones LUCKY has shown them playing for.

I think a bit of selective representation regarding the pubs they are shown playing for has gone on here, is there a rule that the town players have to represent a pub in the city limits maybe ??????? All the clubs mentioned are within 1 mile of the town hall.

Personally I think it would have been better to show all the clubs / pubs they play for and not the captian picking the one they play for.

I might just pop in that day but given the line ups it will be over before I get out of bed

       Sorry Sorry bit silly really to put the pubs/clubs they are representing, (I WON'T DO IT AGAIN) I just thought it might be interesting rather than debateable on here,  as THIS ISNT THE MAIN (one of two) REASON WHY THESE PLAYERS HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THIS YEARS MATCH.
