2007 Squad Day
Permalink Closed

The County Team squad day will be held at Colours Pool Club next Sunday, 1st April at 12 noon. This will include a 1 Frame 'double eliminator' tournament.

All players selected for the forthcoming season should attend, bringing with them their yearly subscription of £5. Additionally, new players should also bring their £10 contribution towards the cost of their shirt. Any existing players wishing to purchase a new shirt should contact Keith Hollis who will inform you of the cost (approx £17).

Any players unable to attend the squad day must contact their Team Manager and make arrangements for their subscriptions etc to be paid. Failure to pay your subscriptions will put your place in jeopardy.

Please make sure anyone who has been selected looks at their shirt if they have played before and let us know what logo's it has on it.

The current shirt has Wantage Trophy Centre on one sleeve and JDS Group on the other. If you do not have both but have a current shirt please bring it washed to the squad day so it can be updated in time for the forst game.

during the squad day it will be necessary to confirm shirt sizes and names for those that are new players along with any ammendments to existing players shirts. Those that wish to purchase another shirt for what ever reason can do but will need to confirm this at the squad day so all shirts can be back ready for the 22nd April, supplier permitting.

I will be speaking to the printers the week after this competition so it is important that if any players can not make the squad day and they require shirts that they make arrangements to have their money, shirt size and name confirmed to their respective team manger and myself in advance of this day to ensure their shirt can be ordered with the rest.

My e-mail is keith.hollis@yahoo.co.uk

Speak to John (JFK on here) or Marcus (not sure if he's is on here) and they will explain. I can't see why you can't attend if you want to enter th competition but check with them as to wether it is necessary for you to attend or not.

What time on Sunday? Hope it's not an all-day event as I really should be studying for finals.

Chris, you don't have to attend, but feel free to if you wish!! Reserve squad members won't have to pay subscription or shirts etc unless they become full squad members later in the season.

Hey - if you check your private messages Jaz has contacted you there as she didn't have your e-mail! you can email jaz_venning@hotmail.com if you've got any q's.

To clarify: All reserves/C players are welcome at the squad day.

Results of the day:

Best Lady: Nicki Hoskins
Best Youth: Sean Ling
Runner-up: Jimmy Cairns
Winner: Ben Scott

A great day guys, hope all our new players enjoyed themselves! Nice to see some of the youth showing the men the way.. beefy got a taste of his own in one I watched!

A flawless run from the "almighty" Benny beating off all comers without dropping a frame. A step up from last year's runner-up...how can he improve on this next year i wonder? Perheaps he'll hang up his chalk and let some mere mortals have a bash??

A very impressive performance from girlie Steph Meidinger (recent mens team qualifier!), beating several of the guys, including a somewhat merciful ming as I recall. Does the death ray not work against lady folk I wonder???

Just some one who's not a bad player, LOL

Even taking me out after Ming, after a all mighty fluke on my last yellow, followed by a awful shot on the black which sat just past the middle, all mighty roll of luck. Meaning a double in to bottom pocket left for stephanie, just for some one who is not a bad player, she slamed it in to the bottom pocket,

Go Stephanie. worship.gif

While my match against Steve had some back and forth with flukes and fouls, at least I can take credit for the winning shot. Ming beat himself in perhaps the fastest frame I've played since moving to the UK. A little subtlety might be a useful addition to the armoury Kev wink

Looking forward to playing in some men's matches, improving my game so I can beat him properly! biggrin

He is still slowly learning the game, hasnt been playing long enough for the addition of subtlety, but once someone has shown him how to pot balls, he can then maybe move on to some other area's.............perhaps he could learn to fudge?winkbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Subtlety? Fudge? huh?

Unfortunately my DEATH RAY Laser Blastersometimes goes astray early on Sundays. Normally fully charged later on
