I think that they are ****e, they would be better if they didn't have that deliberate foul rule. A foul thats meant to help you how stupid can it get!!!!!!!

I think that they take some getting used to - some very 'strange' tactical shots can put you at a huge advantage if you know when to play them, and when it was World rules or BAPTO rules there was not much between them.

But I think the new Blackball rules have (by and large) taken the best elements out of all the various sets of rules and therefore are now the best rules out there.

i hate them they're 5hit, i agree with the old watson doing a foul shot on purpose to benefit ya, the whole point of a foul shot is to benefit the opposing person not yourself, its an OUTRAGE!furious

Indeed i am! One of my few games playing these rules, broke, nice break, all the reds opened nice, potted another, then was told it was a foul because i hadn't nominated - opponent then cleared up!!! cry.gif

I agree with one exception the break. world rules has the best option here.

If you foul its one visit thus not penalised for trying to split the balls everywhere. (Unless you fly the ball off the table)

Pot a ball and you can nominate that colour without having to pot.

If you want the other colour you nominate it but if you miss it goes back to a free table.

You can pot anything on a free table if the breaker comes up dry except if you pot both you have to nominate.

Put those rules in blackball and I agree with ASH.

I have benefited on several occassions with Mr Watson failing to nominate after the break so anyyone can do it. It could be argued that if its obvious which ball you are playing then no foul should be incurred but when its not obvious how do you penalise the player.

The one thing I do like about these rules is once you have a pocket covered there gonna have to foul to clear it so tactically covering the pockets with one ball and never two is a massive advantage.

They're great.

DF's are life savers too biggrin

Just look at all the top EPA professionals compared with the pooy BAPTO lot, much much better.

Only thing world rules are lacking is the combination shot, IMHO.

They are much better players coz that's where the money is, but that wasn't the question.

IMHO - means, In My Humble Opinion wink

You are of course correct, but ever stopped and thought why the money/sponsorship is there?
Might have something to do with TV ratings. The rules make the game more exciting/open, and that's what audiences want, opposed to 45 minute fudging games.
Having said that, BAPTO rules are much better than they used to be. I think the officials have pegged on to what sells and are trying to sell it.

Don't know how all you people turned this into a "Blackball" v World Rules issue?

As one of the worst "break and dish" players in Oxford, can't see what the prob is?

Get a life  you sad Bas**rds, most of ya ain't got a clue about pottin' or safety play. Walk the Walk then Talk the Talk.

Me........................One day i play like Ronnie, next like Alex after too many beers.

So what! i'm STILL one of the top 5 players around Oxford after 15 years, so apart of the other 4.........prove me wrong or get back in your kintergardenbiggrin

Not one day mate you have already acheived the playing like Alex under the influence. Reaching the National Singles Semi as well in Selsey 2 years ago.

That's right, and it's fair to say that they have got some catching up to do, but I think that Blackball is now the best 'product' on offer now, in terms of the rules at least.

Anyway, when did you start making your opinions humble...? biggrin
