Isle of Man Pool Festival + British Championships
Permalink Closed

I've been contacted and asked to publish the following for anyone interested - sounds good!!

Isle of Man pool festival consisting of 2 seperate events from 26th Sept - 3rd October: British championships and the Pool festival itself.

The British Open Singles Championship runs from 26th to 28th September 2008 and is the first in a series of events comprising the Isle of Man Festival of Pool.
Prize Fund :

Men's Individuals : £6,400
Ladies Individuals : £3,200

The British Open will be played to WPA Blackball rules.
View and download blackball rules at the link opposite.

Matches will be played on Simply Pool Tables with
 Hainsworth Smart Cloth.

CueSport TV will be covering this event.

Isle of Man Festival of Pool will be held from 29th September to 3rd October 2008.
The venue is the superb Villa Marina in Douglas. There will be twenty-four Tournament tables using Hainsworth 'Smart Cloth'.

The £5,000 5-man team competition, open only to amateurs, is just one of many events which will ensure a fun-filled, week-long extravaganza of pool.
As you'll see, there's also a ladies team event plus singles competitions for ladies, men and over-40s.
Add to this mixed doubles, consolation tourneys,
pub pool challenge, 14/1, speed pool and 'flyers'.
And all with great prize money !

We are thrilled to be returning to what is widely regarded as the ultimate pool venue.

With a true international flavour, there will be players from Spain, France and Italy, plus regulars from Shetland, Orkney Isles, Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland and, of course, the Isle of Man.

And don't forget that a series of major poker tournaments is also scheduled !

3-Ladies Team £2,400
Mens Singles £5,000
Ladies Singles £2,000
Over 40's Singles £1,500

Come off it John, this involves the "payment of money". That rules out 4/5ths  of the Oxfordshire pool fraternity who think parting with £5 is above their limit.

Would love to go if half decent team where up for it.... (good trial though; for the 2009 "over 40's, past it and current/ex-Tandem players" county team biggrin). Will have to think of a shorter team name before the new season.

But, previous experience with other comps, BAPTO etc, doesn't fill me with much hope, especailly as it's short notice. cry

I believe JFK is one of those attending despite him being selected for the England Team at the Europeans - he decided this was a more worthy tournament. Says it all really!

I swear I posted on here already - where has it gone???

Getting v.excited about IOM.  There's a girly team going with Nicki, Me, Alex & Steph... I'm optimistic that's a team that could do well in the ladies event...

Come on the oxford lasses! (and W.Berkshire turncoat wink)
