Berkshire 10 - 11 Oxfordshire B great come back from 10-4 down!
Well done ladies

Yep it was a great day.
Oxfordshire A dominated from the start, and had won the match by the end of the secong leg. We then went on to win the last 6-1 to get a final score of 17-4. Three-out-of-threes from Nicki Hoskins, Shelley White, Steph Meidinger and Verity Anton, and a 2 out of 2 from Shelly James.
But the story of the day - what a comeback for our new B team in their first match! Lost the first two legs 5-2 with some nerves and a fair amount of bad luck to go 10-4 down. Then they went on to win the last leg 7-0 to win the match! Two great blacks from Conny Meisenberg and Carrie Francombe meant that it was down to Sheree Houseman to win a tense decider against Berkshire's manager and most experienced player Kate Reeves. Sheree calmly took out the finish to clinch the match! Amazing!
It was a great team effort with everyone contributing. 2 out of 2 for Jo Lenthall and 2 out 3 for Conny and Carrie. Thanks to Sheree for captaining the match in Jane's absence, and well done for everyone for such an amazing comeback!
What a committee we have, neither the Chairman or Treasurer, both of who probably played in this match, can confirm the result...
By the way the A's won 18-9

Ox Ladies A were at 5-2 up, then 7-7 after two legs, but lost in the end 12-9 or 13-8 depending on the last frame (I left before it was over). We had chances in the last leg, lots of the last few frames could've gone the other way. As it was we left ourselves needing all of the last three, and it was just too much to ask against a quality opposition like Hampshire. Not our day sadly :o(
Ox Ladies B put on a thoroughly impressive performance, and were only a frame behind us at the half way stage 6-8 down. In the last leg I think once the match was over enthusiasm dipped a bit, but final score was a pretty impressive 14-7. Not to be sniffed at against the regional champs last year!!! Well done girlies.

can i ask n e of the commitee y doris played in the a team the other day when
1. he didnt get retained 2. he didnt go to trials 3. cannot be given a wild card after trials and onli wild cards were given to the a team players that won the nationals.
If you want to talk to John about it I'm sure he'd be more than happy to discuss with you.
Basically Pete M was unavailable at the last minute, leaving the A's 1 player short. The B and C teams had already left for their away match by the time this was discovered, so the A's faced either playing with one person short, or playing Kierran who happened to be at Rileys. Right place, right time, I guess.

Maybe it would have made more sense to ask Marcus or Sheba.
Not if they'd already gone to away match as we weren't aware of Pete's unavailability until after 1pm

seems a wee bit rong 2 me dnt ya fink ?
As already posted - we were left short at the very last minute (1pm). With the B and C already on their way to Hampshire and none of the youth at the venue it was the logical choice.
However, rest assured, he is not suddenly part of the squad. He has just helped us out when a problem came up out of our control to which we were grateful at the time! Cheers Doris!

c all sounds a wee bit dodgey 2 me if the ladies were at the same venue marcus and tom at home and youth team players available most of whom live around the rileys area
yawn yawn yawn.......the start of a new season and the start of more bitching, if u do start calling people after 1pm what if they dont answer etc and then its maybe 20/30 mins later and still a player short??? when there is a match to be played i am sure the team managers have got better things to be doing.... ANYWAY, IT WAS A ONE OFF GET OVER IT.....i cant remember in the last 5 years this sort of thing happening b4????? i am sure the NORM'S out there though will come back with dates, times, venues etc of maybe it happening in the B or C teams...
Manse wrote:They had'nt gone to the away match. They were both sat at home.
If thats true why weren't they selected ? Chances are that they had indicated that they were unavailable for that weekend, therefore wouldn't have been considered once we were in this situation.
The decision was taken by myself and John and if you wanna step outside to argue the point then feel free...
Kickin's are free on a Sunday..........

And most of the youth are just ONE phone call away, and they would all be itching at the chance to play for the Mens.
Bit off picking someone whos not in the squad, even if he was there in the right place at the right time...hmm.
But the women were at the same venue wernt they? Your not serious, are you?

Marcus and Tom were unavailable for the fixture - how the hell am I supposed to know they are at home? Are you seriuosly suggesting, at after 1pm, I start ringing people who have already said they are unavailable?
Youth living in the area ... all of which are sitting at home waiting for a call .... get with it. If the youth want to be considered in these situations then stop getting a new telephone number every 5 minutes and not telling people. I have very few up-to-date youth telephone numbers let alone knowing their addresses their whereabouts on sundays or their availabilities.
Now put yourself in my position. Play one of the ladies ... who have not qualified for the mens team ... despite some of them trying ... and who if selected will not be playing again .... OR ... play Kieran ... who has not qualified (was away) .... has A team experience ... and if selected will not be playing again. It is a no brainer ... well ... for some.
However, Jamie ... you are a current member of OCPF ... the channels for complaint are clear. I suggest you use them.
Again though ... people asking questions on her that they have had opportunity to ask in person first but they don't - I just don't get that.

Youth are not good enough? Have you given them a chance? No. What about a certain Mr Gee who developed from the youth team and played his nuts off in the A team at Selsey. Give players a f*****g chance!
Tim has also worked his nuts off as Youth Team manager developing the best youth system EVER for this county. But some of the mens players dont give the tmie of day to the youth, putting them down when they are playin etc...no encouragement or help with shot selection etc..

Pray tell me what was wrong with my comment "not good enuff" ? maybe the truth hurts...
None of the current crop of youth players are "good enuff" to play in the A team imho, and if you take that as a "put down" then thats your perogative, but it wasn't meant as one
Still, no doubt some of them will try to prove me wrong over the course of the season.

I believe the Secretary was in London, so it's unlikely that she'd have that info on her and as you where at Riley's at the time, unless you had all the numbers on your phone, you may not have been able to contact every non-selected player.
John may also have all the numbers but brought the wrong folder with him, doh!

The Youths Two county teams played today and it turned out to be very much one way traffic with the A team taking a 7-0 lead Befor liam durham got a frame for the B side but the match was over by the end of the second 7 with A twam wiining that leg 4-3 the last leg not much changed with the A team winning this 5-2. Two A team players with 3/3 Yousif Shahab and Jamie saczak. Liam Durham getting 2/2 well done lads
