Despite calls for the Tuesday Mile League to fold. Fear not we are back up and running again without the need to open to a 5 miles area.
I have say a massive thanks to Lee for his hard work in saving the mile pool league we now have enough tables for 10 maybe 12 teams along the Botley Road. New Summer League due to start on 13th April.
If you fancy putting a team in you can register your team online or download a form from the www.oxfordpool.co.uk
At the moment we have 6 teams sign up already
If you can't get a team together but would like to play let me know as I can help find you team to join. If you are looking for a venue contact myself or Lee and we will do our best to get you a venue. Please note to any teams thinking of playing from the demos: All regular player as well as anyone register to the team entered in the competitions from the demo MUST be members of the club.
At the moment the following competition will be Scotch doubles, Singles, Mixed doubles, Two-man, Team K|O, however we are thinking of dropping 1 or 2 in favor of new comp blindman doubles. Competitions will only run with a minim of 8 players/teams
For those of you who don't know much about the mile pool league it's a 3-man team playing best of 5 it also know as the fun summer drinking league.

Hi Sheree any ideas as to when the league will start? plus have you had any luck with finding me a venue?
Hi Matty, I left the chairman to sort the venues out as he's a landlord in the area he know all the other landlord anyway yesterday I gave him a kick up the arse, as the league is due to start 13 April and I need to do the fixtures this weekend.
So far we have the following teams are
The George A Lee, Johny & Jaz (2009 Hollybush A) The George B Marc, Jame, Steve & Lauren (2009 GWR D)
Hollybush A Sheree, Stuart, Pri & Carrie (2009 GWR B) Hollybush B Stewart, Ian & Tim (2009 GWR A)
Demo A Jez Kevin Andrew & Peter (2009 Demos) Demo B James, Todd, Jack, Ady & Carl (New team made up 2009 players from GWR A & D & Kite)
Kite A Rachel, Dean, Gregg & Lee (2009 Kite)
At the moment the league has 1 space left at the Kite however we have 2 team wanting the space, so Lee is talking to the White House, once I know what happening with the White House I shall let you know what happen Matty.
As i'm part of Matt's team, I also have a quick question.....
If no extra venue can be found but there are still two teams to accommodate, what happens then? Is the venue allocated on a first come, first served basis?
Thats fine Sheree but i will need to know before 11th April. If we are not successful in entering the Tuesday mile league then i will be looking to enter the Abingdon summer league instead & the closing date for entries is the 11th April, i dont want to end up not playing any pool through the summer .
Finally got the White House to take a team. So the new season will be starting on the 20th April and the teams are as follows
The George A Lee, Johny & Jaz (2009 Hollybush A) The George B Marc, Jame, Steve & Lauren (2009 GWR D)
Hollybush A Sheree, Stuart, Pri & Carrie (2009 GWR B) Hollybush B Stewart, Ian & Tim (2009 GWR A)
Demo A Jez Kevin Andrew & Peter (2009 Demos + 2009 GWR B) Demo B James, Todd, Jack, Ady & Carl (New team made up 2009 players from GWR A & D & Kite)
Kite A Rachel, Dean, Gregg & Lee (2009 Kite) Kite B Matty, Phil, Karl & Lucky (new team + Osney A player 2009)
White House Andy Don Mark (2009 GWR C)
Any other team thinking of putting a team in let me know as the White House might take two teams they are going to let me know, or pop into White House and ask.
Fixtures will be on the web later this week
Also like to make a small note food is optionally at venues this season, this is due to player playing their match and buggering off, some venues feel it's a waste putting food out, personally I back the landlord, if a landlord willing to pay your team entry fee and put on food have a few beers and don't play and bugger off, because pubs without pool tables equals no pool leagues
You still have time to enter competitions closing date is the 27th April
Singles - player needs to play 3 league matches Two-man - lead player needs to play 3 league matches partner 1 league match Scotch - lead player needs to play 3 league matches partner 1 league match Mixed - lead player needs to play 3 league matches partner NO league match
Also ALL competition matches are to played at Mile venues any match not played at these venue will because void
Just a thought as there are a few ladies playing this season if get enough interest I can add Ladies Singles to the list of comps as with all the other comps I will need a minim of 8 entries, and each player will need to play 3 league matches.
If a Ladies singles event goes ahead they will be able to entry Open Singles as well
Phil 3 - 1 Stuart Matt 3 - 0 Sheree Karl 0 - 3 Pri
Not a bad debut from us last night. It was an enjoyable night (even when my tip fell of midway through my second frame ), and it was nice to meet a few new faces. Hopefully there will be many more nights like it to follow.
Just a case of my usual crappy form before International duty.....
All in all Nicki played quite well on what has got to be the worst table I've ever played on, that along with the train disruption and the snail paced service at the bar all contrived to work against me...
I'LL BE BACK...

Well played last night, team! Should've been the full 9 frames but I may as well have given John a two frame head start with some of the shots that I played. It'll be better next week......i'll only be giving a one frame head start
Another good night with some entertaining pool played all round. Lets face it though, the real winner was the table, which did exactly what it wanted with the ball all night
Well played, George......looking forward to the return leg!
