1996 - Thursdays Red Lion Kidlington when the lovely Alan Davis ran the pub. At the time I'm sure he thought it would be laugh to enter an all girls team into the league. We are the only team left out of the 4 teams that played. After Alan left the Red Lion, the team then moved to the Black Horse Kidlington, then to the Red Lion Yarnton, back to the Black Horse and of next season playing from the Cavalier Marston. We are still an all girls team and we are still no better than when we started 10 years ago, but we all still haveing a laugh and playing pool in both winter & summer Captain from 1996-2000
2003 Just made it onto the ladies county squad, for 1 season
2005 Captain new Monday team Black Horse won league my 1 point, looking forward to next season playing from cavalier
2006 Captain new Tuesday team Kite B
10 years of playing pool!! you would have thought i got the hang of it by now.
Currently on the bench at the Demo's, after coming out of early retirement.
Welcome to the Forum, Stuart. That's a pretty long, impressive bench this year! Was saying to Nathan on Sunday that you should give the Champs a good run for the title this year.
Not Interesting compaired to you guys in anyway but as Lucky Says...

Real Name Miss Michelle Anne X <-- yes that is my last name
Nick Names:Michelle, Mich, Chelle, Mush, Monkee, or MaX or choose a new one if you ever get to meet me (or care come to think of it).
Started Playing: (this is when I learnt a proper set of rules and didn't rely on the old pub ruleing that favoured the bossiest player) 2005. Started a Team for the Fitzharris Arms 2006 Sunday League and then handed the Captain position over to Christy when I realised I had no playing ability. Followed some really fab players about because I was very attached to COLZA
Sept 2006:now I am trying to remeber all the great tips and learn as many more as I can...
Because I live my life in a world of canabis I often forget who I am let alone you
EPA Oxfordshire Ladies County Pool... Sunday December 10th 2006... I was LAST! on the leader board stats... Out of 12 Games Played I had lost every single one so far... 100% loosing record... hard to beat that you know!
So... 4 games played on the 10th... in my official named T-Shirt I might add (you have to play 4 county games to get one so I recon thats an achievment in its self)...
1st game... I missed the black... pathetic. After that my opponent cleared up and took the win with a smile. 2nd Game... she was a good player and it was a good game 3rd Game... Amazing... With the exception of H Ihaven't really played any of the England squad and I was proud to have even been on a table for that game... lol stupid thing is... I can't remeber her name but I do know that the win she took effortlessly against me cemented her for a chance at the No1 Position... Going to the England Trials is Fantastic but going with free accomodation is big bonus...
3 games down so asically I amholding fast... still on 100%
YES! 100% Loss, but still an impressive amount... I'm a bit annoyed now, because Ihave made a deal with myself that I am not playing next year if I don't end on a win... 15/15 Loosing! so far!
4th Game... Great: This opponent is on a 3/4 win so far today and wants to bag her last game... not exactly a push over game...
AND I WIN!!!!!! I WIN! I WIN!! amazing it was... the crowd cheered (Hazel, dawn & a few others) and I was shocked when I realised they were cheering for me :) Awww I won my 1st ever County Pool Game and I end the season 2006 on a win. 1win out of 16played...
Not quite 100% but I don't feellet down... Sorry If I bored you... I'm off to Spain for Christmas Break Now... C Ya'll in 2007!

Started playing in 1996
First competitive league 1998 - Wal-Mac (pub league basically, but organised across North America with finals held in Las Vegas every year) (not to be confused with Wal-Mart)
Learned to play english pool when I moved to the UK in 2004. As an example of the stuff I had no idea about, in Canada putting your opponent in a deliberate snooker is unsportsmanlike at best, and will get you thrown out of some of the rougher bars.
2004 - Oxford College League 2005 - University team and Monday pub league 2006 - County Ladies and Thursday Summer 2007 - County Ladies and County Men's B (still slightly shocked on that one)

I know what you mean about learning a different game it seems everytime I go to the States to see my brother and play pool in the various bars the rules seem to change. I did have some fun against some local Fort Worth players one ninght after they explained the rules to me. 6 Straight wins and 3 captains wanting me to sign up (They were practicing that night as the league did not play that night) for them those pockets are so easy to pot in.
The idea of playing a "safe shot" got me though potting your ball and its their go, strange that one.
How much success did you have playing in the leagues over there becuase I thought the leagues were all based round nine ball in the US although 8 Ball seems to be getting more popular and TV coverage now.

I understand the bite from this kind of spider is quite deadly unless you are lucky enough to have an antidote with you.
In my home town nobody plays 9 ball in the bar, maybe some in the pool hall but we only played it for a lark when we were getting a bit bored of 8 ball. Did okay but not spectacular in Wal-Mac. Beat a couple of guys who made it to the finals in Vegas, but you know how it is with single frame match-ups - sometimes you don't win on merit. Our league was a 'mixed' version, meaning there had to be a minimum of one woman on each 5-person team, which is probably why I got invited to play. Compared to how I play now, I wasn't very good. (Thanks again to John and Ash for the coaching!)
The 8-ball v 9-ball thing might be completely different in the States. Haven't spent much time there.
Name: Mark Harrison Nicknames: 'The Marksman' (not my doing) Started playing: 1998 - then stopped from 2000. Restarted Oct 2006, when I had access to a free pool table again! Competitively: If you don't count college matches, last Sunday.
Came to the university in the summer, which was why I started playing again. Was then recruited to the county team by Steph. Not much else to report really...looking forward to playing 'proper pool' for the first time!
Started in 1997 for the Cath Wheel Sanford on Thames.
Have played there mainly for the last ten years on Sunday's, Monday and Thursday's, But the 2 times I have played for other teams have resulted in me playing in league winning teams.
Cowley Com Club 2005 Thurs Summer section 1 winners. George B (Botley) 06/07 Thurs winter League Section 1 winners.
Have been Capt of many teams in the Cath Wheel, which have either been winners or runners up in the last couple of years. Now Capt of the Sunday and Monday teams
Also, I'm Chairman of the Monday Oxford pool League (sponsored by Bar Billiards)
