As another year begins, I was wondering what Teams and Individuals might make it their year in pool??

Does anyone have any predictions for Teams and Players to keep an eye out for??

I am hoping to see some of the younger players come through and prove themselves against some of the old school.

For me I think that, The Oracle and The Wheatsheaf could do well in their respective leagues, as for the individual players,  Ming and Lewis will continue to bore the opposition into defeat, I am hoping that Kieron can build on his experience and become a very good player locally.

Hopefully we will have some more local events this year too!!

I don't see any major changes this year. Kieran and a few others will no doubt improve and they'll no doubt be a few results that surprise. Perhaps the biggest question is whether Malc and the Osney Arms can halt their Thursday night slump and finish in the top 4

You entering the Yarmouth 3-person team again Lee? We're aiming to enter again and if we do anywhere near as well again I'll be pleased! Brown-John's new arrival is due then though, so it looks like Ricky Clarke will partner Pete Loft and myself.

No 3 Man Team for me this year Ash.  Too much going on at that time myself.

Shame because it is a great event.  I expect The Shears will have a team in again though.

Will be saving myself for the 5 Man team event in Minehead in September.

Will drop you the details of that when it comes through if you are interested.

It is a great event.

Our team looks like being Myself, Tom Weeks, Tim Williamson, Phil Collins, Kev McIlroy (Sub!) and a guest appearance from Keith Brewer.

I'll have a team for the 3 person event, including myself, Jimmy Cairns, Keith Hollis and Jamey Street.

Now who should I drop for the 1st match?

Nice team you have there Lee but can't believe Kev is the sub out of that line up ! I would have him ahead of at least two of the others !

I THINK YOU WILL FIND THIS IS A WORLD RULES EVENT AND IN THAT CASE, I WOULDN'T !!!

Millhouse is right, this is a World Rules event.  With that in mind, I think the line up is correct.

To be honest Kev is coming down for the social side of the weekend and is there as a sub just incase any of us are struggling with our game. (a nice stand in to have available).

Kev would probably select himself as sub in that line up for World Rules too.  Bapto might be a different story!!

With the exception of Keith Brewer all of the others play for or have played for our thursday night team, hopefully we might be able to field that side a bit more this year!

Only time will tell

Now are we seeing another Lewis bringing in people from all over but at least there in the Oxford Pool league scene !

I reckon that side would beat all the current teams in the Prem easily and if by some way you got Keith playing as well - I think you would be the Chelsea of the Oxford pool league !

I have no intention of bringing Kieth Brewer into the Oxford League.

I think you will find that the team I have listed plays in a number of leagues and other team competitions together.  Not exactly a manufactured team!

Most of the players are also known by most of the Oxford pool community, which doesn't really make them outsiders.

This is the team that played at The Shears together in the Oxford league 2 seasons ago and has moved to The Wheatsheaf together.  The only change has been the addition of Kevin who asked us if he could join the team as it was a more convenient venue for him to play from.

It doesn't seem to bother most people.  I think they like the challenge.

Absolutely, it's nice not to have the Osney winning it every year.  Hang on, can I take that back...?!

Wasn't knocking the team Lee !

Rattled a nerve there did I. Simply saying if that team played every week it would take some stopping but frankly I am looking forward to playing teams of that standing next year in the Prem.....

Results this year so far might even suggest we should have been there this year... 11 wins 0 defeats so far.

The gap in quality is huge, Beefy. I reckon you'll survive if you keep your present team, but will probably be fighting it out with the Rover and A1's of this world in the mid-table area.

We will just have to see but yes we did have a good game at rover (even though we lost in the deciding frame) and to be honest Ash I reckon we could give your Thursday team a good game also and most of the other teams in there as well !

We have to play 3 of Leee mighty crew n the 3 man next round so that will be a good game I am sure - win or lose.

Not saying anything about winning you know its like football the aim in the first year is to stay in the top section before thinking of anything else.
