I've taken the decision to close this forum to coincide with its 10th anniversary on 14th January.
Mobile friendly ways of getting information, such as Facebook and Twitter have led to fewer and fewer posts over the last couple of years - so much that last month the whole forum just attracted two posts! Having spoken to the OCPF, we feel that isn't enough to justify continuing it, and that there's little chance of it returning to its heyday of a few years ago.
Speaking of heyday's, I'd just like to thank the many posters who have contributed over the years, so of whom are still active on here and some have moved on to other things. We've had well over 2 million 'hits' during that time and, especially between 2005 and 2010 this site was often quite lively, and was a really useful resource for information on the Oxfordshire pool scene.
The main OCPF website will continue as before - it is just the forum that is closing.
Well what can you say!? This forum has seen a lot of good & bad times here (me for one guilty of some!) with the way technology is today im not suprised this has happened, i for one will be sad to see it close & will take loads of good & bad memories away with me when it does. So on that note...farewell my forum friends & thank you to all who ran this site!! R.I.P Oxford Pool Forum :0(

Just thought that I would say hello on this MY 10th anniversary today. (Confused over the January 14th quote?)
January 12th 2004was when I became the 2nd member of this forum (Ash maybe can confirm) and I too have had some fun, heated, useful, SAD, and important postings throughout the years.
Sad to see it go but the old saying "nothing lasts for ever" comes to mind.
I DO HOPE FOR TWO THINGS IF POSSIBLE?.
1. This forum to be kept just as archives?.
2. FACKBOOK groups to be set up for at least the 2 remaining Oxford Leagues that are still running, (Monday & Thursday nights) for players to put results/tables together. (of cause unofficially lol)
Finally so much has happened to me over this last 10 years since it started, that it will be a SAD day for me on the 14th
Thanks for the memories forum, and a "special" thanks you too Ash for starting it.

Cheers, Malc. Yes I was even earlier to register on January 10th! But if memory serves me correctly, we didn't advertise it to the wider pool community until a couple of days in once we were happy with the layout etc.

Ah thanks for the jog of memory lol, and thanks for asking me to help "test" it out, it seems like only yesterday.

It was with great sadness that I read the news of the imminent demise of the forum, so I thought that i'd return for one final time to pay my respects.
I haven't been able to play pool for the past couple of years due to family commitments but when I was playing I was one of the most regular posters on this forum.......and I loved every minute of it. Ash is right - the social networking sites are to blame for the lack of posts and ultimately the closure of this forum but I hope that some part of what the forum was and stood for can be carried over to them for the future, although I don't think what we had here can ever be replicated. I always enjoyed the witty banter, the heated debates and of course, the multiple posts on the results of the mighty Keys Army (RIP) .
Despite not having been on here for a long time i'll be as sad as anyone to see the forum go, and it's time to say a belated thankyou to Ash for all his behind the scenes work for so long.
I hope this isn't the last post in this thread as it would be nice to see a long list of farewells - it's just a shame it takes something like this to get people posting again
RIP THE FORUM
A VERY SAD DAY
OUR LOSS WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN
IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED
THANKS TO ASH AND ALL THOSE WHO POSTED ON HERE
LETS HOPE THE MEMORIES LAST ETERNALLY
I'm hoping that I can keep all the old data here as a reference when I hit the 'close' button in a minute, so hopefully you'll be able to look back in fondness over the years of postings even if you can no longer contribute.
