Just wondering if there is any update on the Squad Members for Selsey?

I am just interested to know who is going.

(I'm not taking the P*** Ash honest!!)

The squad as it currently stands (in no particular order) is:

John Kinsey ('A' Team Captain)
Ash Fletcher ('B' Team Captain)
Kevin Mcllroy
Marcus Guise
Keith Hollis
Pete Maconochie
Lee Brown-John
Jamey Street
Keith Taylor
Ben Scott
Mark Trafford
Ash Penny-Larter
Pete Timms
Lee Challis
Max Emery
Julian Wood
Matthew Challen
Graham Hornblow
Jez Thompson
Kenny Saunders

Total = 20 to give two teams of 9 plus 1 reserve each.

Final 'A' and 'B' team places have yet to be finalised completely - though I'm sure that most of it can be sussed out.

Yes mate. The eliminator between Kenny Saunders, Jamie King, Richard Lamburn and myself went the way of Kenny and myself. It's what you would not doubt describe as 'limping over the line!'

Definitely if you now go and qualify through the nationals as a result as you have missed the 30 point line !!!!!

Can you qualify for the team next year through the nationals then??

I hope so, because with some of the people going to trials this year, it might not be easy to get back in.....

Did I mention I got you a sponsor by the way?????

I was being slightly sarcastic, but thanks anyway!!

What is the deal with scoring points at the Nationals?  Does it have an effect on the squad selection the following season?

If not I might ask for my £50 back! (only kidding!)

The point scoring is exactly the same as during the regular season.

I could of swarn i posted this but obviously i didn't ... going mad.

Previous Rule: Score 30 points (or team equivalent) in the qualifying season

New Rule: To be a retained player you must satisfy any one of the following points:
1) Score 30 points (or team equivalent) in the qualifying season (Based on 8 Fixtures),
2) Score 18 or more points at national finals AND have a win percentage of 55% or over
3) Reach the quarter finals or better at the national singles event.

Any youth satisfying the above criteria for his/her youth side in their FINAL year as a youth will automatically qualify for men’s squad the following year.

So far we have 8 qualified players for next season (7 men + Kieren Doherty who qualified through the youth setup).

In answer to your question about squad selection (I am assuming you mean whether someone is in the A's or B's next year, appologies if not) then yes it does matter.  Its not easy but everything is taken into account when deciding the opening seasons squads.

oh I see!!

Thanks.

Better pull my finger out then.  With 8 Players already in that doesn't leave many places for new trialists.

Could have a bloody good B Team next year (possibly stronger than the "A")

When you say internationals do you mean foreigners??

I think that INTERNATIONAL players shouldn't be worried even if they did have to trial....

It might encourage them to play more than just their 2 matches per year.....

I think this might of increased now??  Will they turn up for the big games though?  Or just waltz in to the team when ever they want??

Which England team do you play for now Malc...... over 50s??

I believe it's now changed to 51% of fixtures - i.e. 5 out of 8.

That can only be a good thing for the team surely?

Does Jimmy still have to play 51% now that he plays for Ireland?

Might be 100% depending on the Captain.

It depends on their attitude. (i.e. whether they want and enjoy playing county)

My opinion has always been to use/pick a player who gives 100% rather than somebody who HAS to turn up, and just goes through the motions, don’t you agree ?.

I think sometimes these rulings, (that are made up at the top table so to speak) could well work against the individual county.

Thought I might get a bite out of you on that Malc!!  too easy!!

What is the criteria for being retained at international level in EUKPF then?

I know that EPA (new) is basically the top 9 players are retained and they trial for 6 players every year.

Then you have to qualify through squad trials internally to make the World Champs and Europeans etc etc.

They do only have ONE England Team though not a "B" Team too

Does that mean that Jimmy wont be playing county this year then?

I think that you can't enforce 100% of games due to holidays etc, but the higher the percentage the better for getting a "Committed" team of players.

Nothing worse that playing most of the season and being dropped to allow an international to play their quota of games. (it happens in EPA too).

What is the criteria for being retained at international level in EUKPF then? I know that EPA (new) is basically the top 9 players are retained. SAME AS!! (I did it for 9 seasons) but we had a bigger squad then, and trialed for 9 extra places, so it was a bit harder to keep in the top 9,  Oh oh I will have to dig out where I finished each season, (just for YOU) but I DO know that those 9 seasons I didn’t finish out of the top 5, BUT OF CAUSE THERE WASN’T ANY GOOD PLAYERS THEN.

Does that mean that Jimmy wont be playing county this year then? I WOULDN’T HAVE THOUGHT SO.

"Committed" team of players. SEE MY OTHER POST ON THIS COMMITMENT.

Nothing worse that playing most of the season and being dropped to allow an international to play their quota of games. (it happens in EPA too) AGAIN IT’S A RULING THAT HAS COME DOWN FROM TOP LEVEL, AND MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST SOLUTION.

Hope This Helps

You mean the captain had dropped you for matches?

Cheers Malc,  I always try to understand what goes on rather than assuming.

Obviously if you are an international player you should be picked automatically for your county.

Quite a C.V. you have going there.....  I can only think of one player with an International record superior to that.......... go on, you know who....

Couldn't agree more! The current ruling on Internationals is stupid and doesn't help one bit.
