With the launch of the IPT (International Pool Tour) this year. There is now a properly run pool tour offering BIG money to pool players.
The tour is being played to American 8 Ball rules and with the first few events offering well over $2,000,000 in prize funds it has to be the biggest thing pool has seen.
I know that a few UK players are already on the tour - Darren Appleton, Mick Hill, Rob Mckenna, Pat Holtz, Phil Harrison etc. Not to mention Jimmy White and Ronnie O'Sullivan.
You can't blame them for jumping ship really, each tour player in 2007 is guarenteed a wage of $100,000 before even hitting a ball!! And the winner of each event will receive $1m!!
What effect do people think this will have on English 8 Ball Pool as we know it??
Will it give the governing bodies the push it needs to get some real money in the game for the Pros?
Will we see more and more American 8 Ball events run locally off the back of it?
How many of you would consider trading in the small table game for the 9 footer??
Lee is it played to what we know as Nine ball or is it the traditional game of two colours potting all then the black and if so the american rules are a little different to ours - I know having played in bars there ! No two shots.....
