Money Matches For Practice
Permalink Closed

I don't know about you lot, but I find it very difficult to practice properly when playing down the local..

It never seems to be the same as playing in a match type environment.

In an attempt to get some decent practice before the season kicks off at Gangsters, I was wondering if there was anyone who would like a few games??

I was looking for decent length games, Best of 3 sets, each set best of 7 or 9.

Not looking to play for stupid money just enough to keep the concentration levels there.  Maybe £20 or £30 ?? I am flexible on this.

Is anyone interested?  I don't mind whether it is BAPTO, BLACKBALL or WORLD Rules.

I just want some practice!!

No takers then??

Not even you Isty?  Kev?  Malc?

Is there anyone who can play properly in practice for a decent number of games then? (forget the money)

Beefy, I guess you would be the best person to play, I am guaranteed to come across every possible eventuality playing you!!

As said through PMs, I'll give you some good match practise when you come to collect your Man of the Match trophy from county. Obviously I'd need a start not being an International anymore and it would give you a good goal to play for.

LOL Testing the water I see? Naughty

Mate, I don't really play for money unless I think the odds are stacked in my favour, I hate taking chances...

I'm sure if you asked the same question to a broader audience.... perhaps 8ball.com?? You'll probably getter a better response, maybe the likes of Keith Jones or Andy Barnett - who aren't a million miles away wink

£20 is just a concentration incentive.  Not really a money match.

Keith Jones has given the game up.  No-one seems to know where he is now.

I do play Barney (Andy Barnett) to the same format I mentioned before, he lives in Rugby though, so we don't often get the chance to meet up.

I have practiced with Keith Brewer in Ringwood a few times, also playing best of 9's for £10 a time.

I just wondered if anyone local was interested that was all, just saves travelling.

Looks like I will have to give Tim and Mr Thorpe a shout.

Blimey! didn't realise Keith had given up, and he was in the top 8 pro ranking not so long ago.

Yeah £20 isn't a great deal amount to win or lose I suppose, but finding the time at the moment is proving to be very difficult.

And I'm sure Tim or James would be willing to give you a knock for such measly sum.

BTW, where do you practise? I normally play once a week on a match night (prior to the game) But more recently when I haven't been playing league pool I will go into Colours for a game..... half price for me because I play Oxfordshire County, LOL

Yep there be flukes, snookers, some occasional potting but not shortage of outragous and wreckless play at times.

I'll have a game if you want.

Some of us have to work for a living and can't spend all afternoon in the pub

Malc's away

I'll play with you, should re-phrase that as Milhouse might start another rumour topic. I've got to pop into Didcot over the weekend to see Terry so we can sort something out on Thursday.

Playing Jimmy Cairns tonight for 200 best of 21

I normally practice at the Wheatsheaf (for obvious reasons).

I am happy to come to Colours though.

Just drop me a PM with availability and I will sort something out.

Isty, as you can probably tell from Kevs post, I have quite flexible working hours so let me know when you are around and we can sort something out.  After our singles final of course!!
