Wake up mate this has been running for years its called Interleague ! Just the Oxford league don't bother playing in it becuase its an EPA run event.
Go back to sleep Beefy.
I have no idea what Interleague is, I don't think it's a case of me waking up, although having had a 5am start this morning I am starting feel less than sharp!
I'm not suggesting we create a new league between one team each from the before-mentioned towns, just adding a thought to the Abingdon-Oxford debate.
Seriously though, Oxford should have enough players to field at least 2 interleague teams. But then they'd probably win it and stop the lesser teams from qualifying. Can't have that.
well done to james and jimmy for agreeing to run an Abingdon side. Ash and myself will get an Oxford side together. its not gonna be on a sunday beefy. so who wants to play?
If you want it to be Sunday players only I suggest you find someone who captains an Oxford Sunday League team and agree on a match format and pick players from your respective leagues.
Regarding players who play in both, you either agree that such players can't play in the Abingdon v Oxford match, or you ask them which team they want to play for (assuming both teams would like them to play).
In other words less chat and more action, get on with it.
I believe Paul came to the conclusion that to be eligable to play for either team you have to live there not play in the leagues? is this correct Mr Chambers?
At last someone with a sensible solution with the Secrataries picking the teams !
Oh dear looks like Ming doesn't want to take the challenge, well with half of the Abingdon League players signing on for the Osney now who could blame him, looks like we could field a strong team at the end of the day.

That's what I'm led to believe to, Jimmy. If the Secretaries of the Sunday leagues want to run another tournament, then fair enough.

Two tournaments its taken 2 years to try and arrange one.
So my “named” 7CAN’T be beaten then

Want to set a date then Ming????
I've got no problem setting up a challenge match.
If i remember rightly, this match was supposed to be between the winners of both Sunday leagues i.e. Osney V Tandem as they won them last season. Obviously next season will be Crown House Club V Oracle.
As for qualification for participation in said match(es) it should be at least 50% of matches for the relevant season. This should stop teams packing their side with ringers just so they could play in it.
For a match between the leagues the same criterior should apply therefore making it irrelevant that Malc might have some Abingdon based players playing for him from time to time.
Also to make it a totally "league representative" based challenge we could have a maximum of 2 players from any one team (that's my lot up in arms already lol), maybe Home and Away - 10 X best of 3 matches, aggregrate score to decide winners, which would give lesser players the opportunity to participate in this match. What about a ladies match as well?
Unfortunately, as i'm off to Australia for a month, it'll have to be after xmas, though we can get together before then to sort out the details.
