Talking in doubles matches

I think talking in matches goes to far, i have watched a few matches where the players change there way of play compared to there normall game and end up losing. My main chat with who i play with is Do what You Think Is Right. Players have a chance to speak in between there shot and there opponents shot.

But doubles is teamwork so there has to be some type of talking

So maybe a idea is

1) Allow talking after the break shot

2) then have 1 time out per frame where a talking is ok.

Anybody else got any ideas?

Good ideas but perhaps there should also be a time limit?

i never talk to my player ,maybe i should infuture after last night, thats why we lost

were all capable of clearing the table in one visit ,so why do you need your partner telling you how to do it i say dont talk ,also the games would be alot quicker .

I think you'll find that the problem is, that in the Monday League you're allowed to talk to your partner after every shot, whilst in every league that i've played in you can only talk to your partner between visits.

Also in Blackball Rules there is a time limit of 60 sec's to play shots, pre-visit discussions are included in this. So if you've a problem with the rules, turn up at your AGM and make them enforce the proper rules as laid down by the relevant governing body rather than make up silly little changes to them, which you're now bitchin' about.

Stopwatch anyone?

Malc and I have the same problem with most of our opponents. Don't know why as there is only ever one possible outcome

Not quite true Mr. Merciless, sir! Up until this season we did allow talking for discussing colour nomination and following the use of a free shot after a foul, but never after every shot.

Anyway, that's been changed for this season, so that it's the same as every other league in that you can only talk before the first shot of each players visit.

Rubbish we had this rule and it causes confusion when playing in other leagues !

2) then have 1 time out per frame where a talking is ok.

Not practical sometimes it is necessary when faced with a snooker sometimes a joint effort is worth while

I am in favour of discussing a shot but when the shot is obvious the discussions should be of a minimum. I have played in many doubles matches but my recent experience on Monday was a first even for me.

The Abingdon leaguehas always had doubles up until recently in the league and dsicussions were common but people were sensible about it.

Common sense should prevail but in my opinion a discussion beyond about 30 seconds is not necessary unless you are faced with a snooker.

Anybody else got any ideas?
