I think we have not really performed in the last 2 matches and results reflect this.We have good team spirit though and i think we will bounce back.
Damn straight there matey!
We've got no excuses... Against the 'B2's I put it down to total and utter complacency, and against Hampshire they had the edge, there were no awesome clearances from what I can recall and our finishing was awful.
Next match I think we should all try to get to out earlier and get a good knock-up before the match.
johnny_cider wrote: Against the 'B2's I put it down to total and utter complacency, That combined with the fact that the players in the B2 team were up for the match and wanted to get one over on the B1's......
I just hope that the B2's learnt from that match and start winning other matches now. Lets face it they beat a team who had beaten all the other teams in the region bar Hampshire in the first half.

Personally i am going through my worst run of form at county,i fully expect to be dropped 4 the next match.I think we have not really performed in the last 2 matches and results reflect this.We have good team spirit though and i think we will bounce back.Everyone supports us making finals dont they?????
Of couse we all want the B1 team to make finals, having the B2 team there aswell would also be awesome. As you say, the team and a couple of individuals are going through a bad patch at the moment, but the problem is, the same players are still getting picked even though there have been some poor individual performances of late.

Yeah, yeah. Everybody's an armchair coach on Monday morning. Just because someone's had a few off days doesn't mean they should be dropped for the next match - if that were the case then half the ladies team would be benched after this past Sunday! In the frames I saw the Hamps Bs played rather well, and the score was better for us this time than last. I was mostly happy with how I played in the two frames I lost, but I wouldn't expect Marcus to pick me instead of Max or Ben (for example) for the next match because overall they are better players with better records. The big picture is what gets us to the finals, and if players aren't feeling confident they belong on the team because the captains keep juggling the lineup, nobody goes to Selsey with a winning attitude.

The thing about having a TEAM spirit is that when you do go through a bad run, which happends with the best of teams, you all stick together... Its that sort of team spirit that got us such a good start to the season... The question i would ask mr Milhouse, who would you put up to the B team, in my humble opinion it should be someone who is playing really well and winning all the time from the C team otherwise there would be no point them going in if they were not going to add to the team.... When i last looked at the stats there was no C team player with over 50% wins so would it really do any good by swapping the palyers?????

So what you are saying then is that thre should just be 3 teams with no chance of progress between any team ? The point in having a SQUAD is that you pick people on form. Yes, there may not be people in the B2 team over 50% for the season, but maybe you should look at the last 2 or 3 games. Like i said, it should be picked on form, not just because you are a name!

I think what Milhouse is trying to say is that he would like to play a match in the B1's... ?
Mate, if you beat around the bushes much more you'll either be offered a job on a large country estate on a sunday morning, OR, you'll be done for loitering with intent!
Either way, you'll be scaring the birds! Ha!
Footnote. The use of the term 'birds' in this passage was not meant to offend the female contingent of our community, but merely to enhance a rather tired old gag wheeled out for people of the same degenerate sense of humour as myself! Thanks for Watching...
Secondly, read this as quoted from the Team Manager posted on the 2nd June, after the trials....
"The development squad were for young people keen to play but would only be used as top ups when short, with no rights or expectations to play - just as and when we needed them."
This policy has been left uncommented on for 6 months, it's too late to get upset at a lack of movement between B1 and B2 teams now....
Thirdly:
I really don't think those that have any power to make changes between the teams (John, Marcus and Steve) are going to respond in an official way on this forum, let alone take much notice of a few people voicing opinions. If you really have an issue I suggest you ring one of them and see if you can progress progress in a suitable manner. I expect the team captains would welcome positive suggestions made to them, but having the usual moan over the internet will only ever induce a pretty negative response, on that I'd be willing to bet any amount of money!
By the way, despite me winning six out of six in the last two matches for the B1 team I have no expectations to play in the A team next time. If it happens it happens. I'm mature enough to let those we have voted into positions of responsibility do their job. I would expect only youth players to not do the same.

Now if anybody wants to discuss Team matters then they are discussed with the Managers of the teams, Men's, Ladies or Youth. If then you don't get the answers you go to the Players Rep, These matters should not be on the forum. There is a system in place, to talk about these issues, If any one wants to talk about it, The right way.
There is a planned Men's Team Manager meeting due to take place when John comes off Holiday, to discuss team issues, So if any one want's to put there idea's / feelings forward please Email us, Our Email addresses is on the main OCPF website along with the players Rep's Email.
I think the sad thing, is no one has talked about the A team Score, for any one wanting to know.
Oxford A 15 -12 Hampshire A, Well done on a good win.

I am not particularly that bothered to be honest, the point i am trying to make is that there seems to be no movement between the teams, no matter how good or bad you play!

Barney, now go back and have a look at the quote again. Myself, along with 3 or 4 other players who are currently playing for the B2 team qualified through trials in our own right and as such, are not players who have been brought in to "make up the numbers". So with that in mind, we should all be considered for playing in the A or B1 teams, but as i have just said, this does not seem to be the case, even though some of us have better recent record than those currently playing in the B1 team. Don't forget that the B2 team play the same teams as the B1 so its not a case of playing easier opposition. I agree with what you say about you winning the last 6 shouldn't automatically put you into the A team - however - if there are/were player(s) in the A team with a poor recent record, then you should be drafted into that team with that player dropping down to the B1 team.

Fair comment, but I stick by my third point. Clearly you're a little upset about being dropped into the B2 team "for good". As per my post I suggest you actually ring one of the captains for a discussion. I don't think anything positive will come raising this on the forum. Althought it's just occured to me, you said...
"Don't forget that the B2 team play the same teams as the B1 so its not a case of playing easier opposition."
It works the other way too. You're not going to be playing at a higher status by moving to the B1 team!
After winning 3/3 in the newly named B2 team (formally the C team) I was promoted to the B1 team but couldnt cut the grade and only won 1/3 so I totally hope/expect to be returning the B2/C team shortly (with a bit of luck) I dont have a problem with that at all, so there could well be a vacancy within that team.
If I had a problem within the county set up I would go straight to the PRESIDENT they havent got one.

I agree, it works both ways, you still play the same opposition. Its not about me being upset in being in the B2 team, yes at the start of the season i was a bit miffed at being in there considering i have been a county player for the past 6 seasons, but now i am not so bothered as my game is not what it was because i am not playing so much.
I just don't like to see the captains picking the same players no matter what results they get, as seems the case recently.

There has been plenty of people go up and down cos of form.......
Me and Pete (cheif) makonacheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee were playing crap in the A team so we were dropped down to the B1 team and if i remember right johnny cider and scooby were put up to the A team.. There has also been Doris and old Berty Fletcher go up to the A team and as they have both played well, stayed there.....
You have still not answered who you would put up to the B1 to better the team??? i would probably say the only couple of players on FORM to go up would be Adam P and Jamie S but as they are both youth players i dont know how that would work out cos it would leave the youth short.......
At the end of the day the county team as a whole, Mens A, B and now B2, Ladies and Youth has got better and better over the last 3-4 years with all teams making it to the finals most years and the TEAM spirit better than ever, so lets get on with the job in hand, thats trying to get as many as our teams through to the finals as possible...
i agree with every 1 sayin this shouldn't be discussed on the forum. mr milhouse in the time it takes you to write on the forum you could have been practising on the table so you keep winning, then you would have a better chance of getting in the b1's
BTW - I'm missing a result + stats from a recent youth match ... can you or anyone involved work out which one and get Tim to send me some stats for it ... i can then include it in the above file to make it up to date.
Cheers John thats pretty cool. Didnt realise Adam had been playin that long! Yes ive told Tim about it, i think it is the 13-8 win over Wiltshire, but i will get Tim to give you all the details.
