Can i just clarify this.
The singles are best of 3, but the doubles is best of 1 ? Why is that ?

Yup, singles round robin best of 3, winner of each singles match gets 1 point so your 2-man pairing can win 3-0 or 3-1.  If it goes 2-2 however then you play a single doubles frame as a decider.

As to why is it only a single frame, I think most honest answer is just because it is.  It was that last year and the year before and I expect it'll be the same next year too.  Most matches don't require the deciding frame so it shouldn't really be an issue.

The last time Milhouse and I played in this comp about 3 years ago they were all frames. This format favours the better players as a one frame format is a lottery.

From Abingdon League experience doubles games take forever so 1 frame is probably long enough seeing as 12 frames may have already been played at that point.

Thanks Barney, thats fine.  Just thought it was unusual to have differing frame amounts.

If you are in this draw and are still in the Doubles please check both draws as you may not have been drawn at the same venue.

Are you saying that both these comps have been scheduled for the same night ???? weirdface.gif

No, I am saying both are due to be played by the same date.

If you are playing at different venues I suggest you contact either opponent to rearrange.

Sorry, but i don't think that should be up to the players to re-arrange these games. There should never be 2 games scheduled for the same night.

Greg 2 - 1 Will (I don't know if 8 Ballers count but Will broke and dished in the second frame)

Greg 2 - 0 Jaz

Keith 2 - 1 Will (Technically this match was not required in the result but played anyway) Will went in off on his break in the second just avoinding the foul break and then I cleared all the reds and the black biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

was a very tense finish in the doubles match with some quality safety play by both teams but in the end it was an attempted safety shot that rolled off to give tom and dave the frame and the win.

Result of the first Semi-Final:

Jamey & Shaun (Osney Arms)   0 - 3 Matty & Kieran (Crown House)

So the winner of the other Semi-Final will need to arrange a date to play the final with Matty & Kieren.

Malc & Nathan (Osney Arms/Crown House)
Tom & Dave (Osney Arms)   v                                   or
                                                              Ash & Max (Crown House)
