I am. As you can see from my signature, I'm a part time Pool Geek. We need a full time one to run this properly, aka Malcom or Kevin, or both
I'm just putting a feeler out at the moment and I know this kind of thing has been on the cards for years. Maybe 200 will be the year it finally comes together.
I take it counties No 1 is ready and confident then? nice one!

1. Isty Afzal 2. James Watson 3. Ash Fletcher I have done/run all this before, as you might remember with the great Martyn "FUDGER" Edwards, so I will pass this time.
if there is no age limit put me down, maybe I will also get a frame start as a veteran of the game LOL.

They think it's all over - IT IS NOW(Kenneth "LUCKY" Wolstenhome)
I tried running one at the Oracle a while ago but it never really got going. This was the format -
Matches are over a distance of 11 frames. (All 11 frames must be played). 1 point awarded for each winning frame plus a bonus point if you win the match.
16 places available and entry is£30 deposit (refundable provided that all matches are played) and then £2 per week. £10 will be deducted from your deposit for each match not played. Matches can be rearranged.
1st place will receive £250 plus a trophy. 2nd place £125, 3rd place £60 and 4th place £30.
I would be willing to run one again if there is the interest but if you're doing it Isty, count me in.

5. Hazel Dabrowski.
Hi Hazel
Not sure which format would be better - either the league thing with a round robin format, or 5 events like a mini tour. Which ever format players prefer there would be ranking points system to carry over for the next season. If it's a mini tour format the ranking points can be used to seed players - ie ensuring the top 8 don't meet until the quarters, and so on. I think a best of 9 first to 5 minimum for the first round for this type of event (plus you and the yoofs will have a frame start)
Right then
1. Isty Afzal 2. James Watson 3. Ash Fletcher 4. Malc (couldn't run a bath) Lewis 5. Nature Boy 6. Hazel Dabrowski
Will be seeing a few more potential candidates (who don't post on here) over the next few days.
Please cut and paste the list when adding your name.

I've already done some figures on running a Tour on the lines of Isty's suggestion. If enuff people indicate an interest then i'll consider doing it and even seeing if i can get sponsorship. Need close to 32 per event to make it viable.
If there's interest, i'll publish my idea..................
Not interested in doing a Singles League, Hazel, as there's too much farting about with people not agreeing when to play.

I think there's a good chance we can finally get this up and running. There's no shortages of players wanting to play as in previous years.

I hear you. Plus with league system you get players arranging loads of games whilst others hardly playing any. Also, at the end of the season you get players chucking games to help their mates Too much of a head ache IMO. So a mini Tour it is
If there anyone interested in still running a singles league similar to Hazel's idea?? feel free to step up

Sounds A good idea and with sponsorship, It might keep entry costs down which would mean more players playing, Maybe if it is a tour, Then Maybe you could get a main sponsor and venue's to sponsor as well and in return, week 1 you go to Colours, 2nd week A1, 3rd week Oracle, 4th week Rileys and so on. 1. Isty Afzal 2. James Watson 3. Ash Fletcher 4. Malc (couldn't run a bath) Lewis 5. Nature Boy 6. Hazel Dabrowski 7. Kevin McIlroy 8. Adam Poole 9. Steve Lakeman
You get a special invite being Counties No 1 an all
No worries, if you don't think you're up for the challenge I'll happily remove it.
Oh yeah, I see your post of earlier now. Leave it there - I'm interested - a lot depends on the format with my work commitments, and I've heard of these ideas before and nothing's come of them. Good luck in helping get it off the ground though.
Oh, and I'm now County Number 3 (probably dropping to about 6th after this weekend...)

No probs mate. It must be tough playing 3 nights of the week, county etc
I'll put you down as a U&A, Ummer and Arr-er
1. Isty Afzal 2. James Watson U18 3. Ash Fletcher U&A 4. Malc (couldn't run a bath) Lewis 5. Nature Boy U18 6. Hazel Dabrowski FM 7. Kevin McIlroy 8. Adam Poole U18 9. Steve Lakeman
Just out of curiosity, say this did go ahead, what day would it be on?
Saturday I would of thought.
Knowing how meticulous Ming is, I'd imagine it be pre-drawn so you know roughly what time to turn up. The second season should be even easier to organise with the ranking/seeding system in place.

As a "Oxford Tour" it may be possible to use 4 or 5 venues; Riley's, Colours, Oracle (abingdon), A1 Club (and maybe Crown House to increase tables), A venue in Bicester/Witney?
Saturday's are the most likely day as there's pool leagues/county etc on sundays.

(3) Rules; Blackball/World (though double elimination could have 1 set of rules for the winners section and the other set of rules for the losers section?)
Can you add your preferences of the above beside your name

Sunday maybe a better date for numbers but with county matches would be a real problem getting dates which didn't clash with either Rules.
Just because it's a tour format it doesn't mean that you need to use more than one venue. You got to look at a central location, easy access, good tables, free parking whoever's offering you the best deal.
IMO your giving too many variables, you're never going to make everyone happy because it's not a perfect world. There's nothing wrong with getting positive feedback though, but at the end of the day - The Tournament Organiser should have the final say.
My preferences are - Saturday
Don't mind which rules but I know the Blackball people on the whole can't play both - so I'm going with the majority here - Blackball rules

Quite agree Steve, two things however, (1) With 32 or so entries, clashes will occur with Sunday Pool Leagues as it could run quite late for some (2) Venues maybe more forthcoming for play on a Saturday and they're open longer/later
