Weekly Pool Tournament on Wednesdays at Colours

Jimmy's running a weekly tournament at Colours, Oxford on Wednesday evenings starting next week, 20th February.

Played to Blackball rules. Starts 7pm. £5 to enter. Best of 3 frames straight knockout with the final played to best of 5 frames.

All entry money paid out in prizes to winner & runner-up (and losing semi-finalists when more than 16 entrants).

Where was everbody this wednesday gone then eh, ash thanks for turning up along with webby, pete mac and a few others, i actually played well and one myfirst actual tournament, only person along with stuart bell to play a prelim. i beat him 2-0 with a 8 ball clearance in the first frame, then beating ady cox and preedy to fianlly meet webby in the final, webbywent one nil up but i managed to overcome the deficit to win 2-1 much to a few people shock i will try and defend my title next week but no guarentee's, hope to see a few more there

Hi There,
I'm new to the area and im looking to meet people to play pool with, i have played league pool for 3 years and i have been told about wednesday pool comps be good if anyone fancied meeting up for a few few frames. let me no thanks

WelcomeAmy biggrin Colours and Rileys (Cowley) are the best places to meet other players, there are a few down at Colours tonight for the Doubles semis.

What rules do you play? All the Oxford leagues play Blackball though I also play World Rules at county level and sometimes higher.

I have played both world rules and black ball rules although i have mainly been playing EPA rules recently.

World Rules are EPA rules, or do you mean the old EPA rules where you don't have to hit a cushion after contact? They're soooooooo boring. yawn

ye sorry i meant the old EPA rules to be honest i dont mind to play any of the rules realy. in chippy where i live they play aright mixture of all rules put together which is very confusing.

Hey Cheffy

There are a number of local ladies who play pool to a decent standard.

I highly recommend the tables at A1 Pool club, crown street, off the cowley road.  There are 4 tables, the atmosphere is friendly and chatty too.  Places like rileys/colours are where people tend to arrive with someone to practice with and keep themselves to themselves. A winner-stays-on policy is adopted in A1, so anyone can come in on their own and still have a few games, without needing a partner to turn up with. The standard is not so high you wouldn't get a look in either.

As Ash points out, I'm there most nights and would love to give you some games. (In my defence, I do live next door...) If you ask for me at the bar they'll give me a shout for you.

PS. Open from 7pm each night, but closed Wednesdays!  There's also free pool 3-6pm on a Sunday.
