YOUTHS AND LADIES MAKE SEMIS

The youths finally managed to qualify from their group but could not find a way past a Berkshire team that contained a few players that just did not seem to miss.

Youths 11 - 3 Cambridge
Youths 4 - 11 Derby 'A'
Youths 11 - 5 Essex

S/F:

Youths 7 - 11 Berkshire

Well done to the ladies for also making the semi finals, losing out to Essex (i think)

And ANOTHER well done for everyone who got far in the singles!

Craig Coles - QF
Andew Gee - SF
Tom Wiliams - Last 16
Alex La Via - QF/Last 16
Stephanie Meidinger - QF/ Last 16

If i missed anybody out or got it wrong, then sorry.

Great weekend.

Probably should point out that I played in the Open Singles, Craig and Andrew were in the Youth Singles and Alex and Steph in the Ladies Singles.

A very big well done to the ladies team!!! I am so proud of you all smile

Everyone put in 110%, never have I seen us play together as such a cohesive team.  Every single player made a vital contribution, Kelly Beth and Verity both put in an excellent performance and beat some very good players.
Laura won the deciding frame against Staffordshire that was eventually critical for our progression beyond the group stage.
Shelley was the star of the team, consistantly banging in 2/3 and 3/3, with me snapping at her heels!

We weren't quite at full strength, but our plucky players gave it everything and I'm delighted we finally showed we are a force to be reckoned with by breaking into the last 4!!!

VERY WELL DONE and bring on next season!!!!

The men were a bit disappointing and neither made it through the group.

An outstanding effort from Keith "C team my arse" Hollis who topped the B's and I hear gave 4 break and dishes!!

Some amusing contributions from the ladies for the mens A on the last day (!) - there are going to be some interesting stats... aww

Men's A I don't think won a match.

Men's B won 2 out of 5 matches so finished 4th in group (I think).  We had to beat table toppers Staffordshire in our last group match to progress but were beaten 14-10.

Alex and Steph got to the last 16 in the singles event. Well done!

I am very proud of a 3-0 whitewash in the first round of the flyer over the current Ladies World Champion... I then lost in the next round to a far inferior player.  Doh! hmm

A's were shockingly bad i have to admit after a flying start. Still we did have some fun in the last 2 matches, he he he

Lakeattacks is in talks with New York Giants (defensive co-ordinator) after his win over Duane Puttock. Steve Avery was knocked of his perch by Laura Street and Alan Wall lossed a few bricks after bumping into Lauren Thomas in our match v West Berks.

Wins for Jaz and Laura again in our final match v Warwickshire

East London won the A's beating West Berkshire 14-6 in the semi's & Derbyshire 14-5 in the final, don't know yet about the rest

Rab Weir (Hants) won the Men's Singles, beating Rob Calder (East London)...went to a deciding frame.

Sarah Trudgett of (Essex) won the ladies beating Amanda Watson (Hampshire), also in the deciding frame.

John McAllister of (Warwickshire) beat Jaz Badacha of (Derbyshire) in the Youths

Beefy allegedly failed a  Hippie drugs test, ordered after his 4 break and dishes. Just awaiting the result of his B sample

Once the As were out and due to illness, Plus a couple of players asking to let others play, due to still being in the singles later on, in the last day of games, where the As had a day with 3 matches,  A few games were offered around. But all players that stood down were at both games to support the team.

Hope that answers your query Millhouse

We have freinds that work at the site and they have told us the pool tables are still there and are nowruined as the hall has a few inches of water in it, The shop has gone completely along with most of the machines.Even more caravans now ruined and the site has had to close.

The Europeans are supposed to be being held there at the end of September too!  Wonder if that'll be postponed...

I wonder postponed or moved,

You have to wonder how much longer it will be used as a pool venue before things are moved away from there, the risk of a wash out might be to much.
I would be surprised how much longer the place will be there has this seems to be getting a bit of a regular thing, insurances wont keep paying out,

Thanks for the comments but a slight correction required

2 8 ball clearances after my opponent broke and 2 break and dishes biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

So it looks like I used my whole seasons quota in one weekend - lol

What a waste of new caravans and such good pool tables. I hope the site recovers from this as I understand it happened just before xmas. Surely the local council has to act to increase the breakers and rocks accross the seafront.

that might just keep Sccoby the right side of the barrier this time biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I have to agree their Max the last game was a bit dissappointing to say the least. I think my potting mind took over in the first frame when I should have tucked up but its easy to say afterwards.

Roll on next year
