And Andrew also managed to invent a new 'side game'  after the match...

It's called "Lets see how far we can get from the away venue on the way home, before I remember I've left my cue there!"

Yesterday the answer was "Nearly the M4!"

Pure Genius! biggrin

Have fun in Bristol!

o well fank u, fank u very much

and if i do get picked for the b's which i aint to confident on, i wont forget my cue this time and if i do then beefy will take me home first so i can change then hell go back for me cuz he's such a gent biggrin

and i usually remember things when im tipsy (NOT PISSED as all the team seem to think i was)

and i disagree with boofy, even tho we were 10-8 up, they are still one of the strongest sides in there if not the, and we only just lost by a stinking frame, so if you look at it overall not just becuz we were 10-8 up at the last leg, then it is a good effort as mr mansell said

Having played against west berkshire every year since they entered the league. I can comprehensively tell you that, they were the weakest WB side they have ever put out against us.

Thats not to say that they are bad players, just not as strong as in previous years. They made a lot of silly mistakes that went unpunished by us. We should really have beaten them by 6 or 7 frames.

and Mr Geeeeeeee losing is ALWAYS a bad result.

Absolutely!

In it to Win it! Not to make the numbers up...

And it can only take one "stinking" frame to put you out of the running for the finals too! So I wouldn't be so nonchalant about it...

I agree with Ben on this they weren't the strongest side and thatmakes it all the worse as we let them get away with putting out a weakend side !

Still lets just kick Bristol a r s e to make up for it !

The Youth B did indeed record their first win (of many I'm sure) 9-12 away at Wiltshire. Stats and report on the website.

Also, Bristol B vs Oxford B next sunday has now been postponed. The rearranged match is pencilled in for Feb 8th.

Next week's A and Lady's matches are unaffected.

B2 team lost, I left with the score at 14-11.  I won 3/3 with a couple of people on 2/3 - Kenny Saunders, Paul Lakeman and Sean BLing I think.

We could have performed better, the first two legs were 5-4 against and 5-4 for so being level going into the final leg we could have made them work a bit harder for the win.

One thing of importance to note though, with this being a "development" team, there wasn't any development type conversations going on.  If there's a player playing the wrong shots or playing the right shots badly, there's no point in other players moaning in muted disbelief.  There should be a lot more talk away from the table to those players who need to learn pool so that they can actively try to put better pool into practice.  If this isn't done all the B2 team will be is Oxfordshire's 3rd team when it could be a lot more.

Rant over.

Tom are you offering coaching sessions.... its a fair point but I think you have hit a subject a lot of people are guilty of in teams throughout oxfordshire pool. People are quick to criticise but don't so it in a constructive way which is often more appreciated by the recipient.

Ox B2 11 - 16 Wiltshire B

I agree Beefy, I have at times been one to say things not as I meant it, because I have said things to fast, So it has been taken as I have criticised then been constructive, (Just ask Paul Lakeman plus It was Dave Lakeman not Paul yesterday, Before I get accused off bringing in my brother).

Take myself yesterday, First frame, Played a risky shot but it worked out better then expected, then played what I thought was the right shot hit it wrong and potted the white. Lost frame, Fractions meant it was a stupid shot. I know that and didn't need someone to tell me that, but the first shot was the wrong shot even though it worked, so sometimes it is hard to say what is wrong or what is right.

What I will say, Is what I have found out not just yesterday but over a year, Is team atmosphere/Spirit is not there. I'm not just on abount county but all over because of the smoking ban. Take yesterday for example I think there was 5 smokers playing so they either were playing, being a Ref, or outside having a smoke, I think some times Team spirit can help players that feel not sure, feel better and you get that extra win or two.

Yes the smoking issue causes problems when it comes to ref'ing a game but I don't agree with that as a drive for low team spirit. I for one would not want to see the ban lifted I think Pubs, clubs are much nocer places now  you don't have to look through the fog and deal with the smell on your clothes afterwards.

In my opinion its the one decent thing this government has done when it comes to Green issues !

In my opinion you need a couple of "characters" in the team and most of the quieter ones will feed off that and then you get an atmosphere going. Oxfordshire county pool has a few "characters thats posses this ability" so we are fortunate on this one.

Nothing better than winning a few frames to get the team behind each other....

A little late but...

Ladies beat Bristol on Sun 13-8, our best result against them for the last couple of years!!!  Thats gotta put us back within sight of the top of the region... lets keep it up ladies!biggrin

Sunday was a real team effort with lots of 2/3s.

A super performance by Emma Penny-Larter on her debut, winning 2/3 frames against our toughest opposition is no mean feat!

Also Bristol's new venue is a damn site nicer than their old one!

Are we the only County playing matches, seeing as yet again no league tables are forthcoming. Mulder, maybe it's a Sunday conspiracy....

Doesn't John as Regional Manager get the Results or are they posted to the back of beyond as per usual?

Maybe the EBPF website's been updated, if you can find it these days...

sorry, i'll keep taking the pills.....

Kev,

The stats and results sheets are sent off to Nicky Smith in Cambridgeshire. I've been chasing the stats up but unfortunately he has not been able to do any for the southern region yet this year.

However, he has agreed to send me all the regions result sheets so far weirdface for this season and I'm going to take over the running of them for this year. It will take me a while to process that lot yawnyawnyawn and I don't expect to recieve them till the weekend at the very earliest.

My plan is to bring in text message resulting; create a section on the ocpf website just for regional info and produce bi-weekly updates of both league positions and regional player rankings. It will also have a section hopefully on rules regards rearranging, dress code etc just for you biggrin

and ... just when i thought I'd escaped all this c**p!

Regards a website, don't be silly. A regularly updated governing body website ... what do you think we are ... World Rules???? One was created a couple of years ago but is used more to promote Mark Shepherds pool book I think than results or useful information. Latest results are from over 2 years ago and the latest information it holds on fixtures, venues and captains is dangerously out of date - Wiltshire are still playing at Gansters and Bristol have only just joined not to mention Somerset having a mens team.
