Really?  I agree it was particularly stupid of me to throw away my lead as I did by losing 6 on the trot, but I didn't think the pool was really poor quality. You took out one break and dish, and we were both repeatedly guilty of missing one of our final balls when taking out the clearance.  But it wasn't dire...

Well played Steve, the score reflects what was a pretty even match to be honest.

Hang on, I can't have lost 6 on the trot... you eventually caught me up at 6-6. Not that it matters.  I lost 6 out of 7 in a row, thats basically as bad disbelief

It wasnt pretty but i got there in the end, after 2 and a half hours or so (including cigarette breaks etc).

Nicki Kinsey 10 - 4 Ash Street

Should have been 10-2 but I played a couple of silly shots in the last two frames!

I also managed to turn up with no tip on my cue having forgotten that it came off on Thursday... then trying to put a new one on the superglue burst and I managed to nearly glue my hand together! Maybe that was my secret...

WARNING do not turn up and play nikki after only having a few hours sleep in a couple of days you will get beat lol ,Gotta admit that is prob the worst i have played since i started playing pool couldnt concentrate whatsoever and it should of been 10 - 2 ,so deserved to get smashed up!!

Nicki Kinsey 10 - 2 Steve Joseph

This time I didn't have superglue-covered hands but did manage to whack my elbow earlier in the day and could hardly move my left arm - I'm thinking having something wrong with me before the match seems to be helping!

Also the only two frames I lost were when I decided to switch to blackcurrant from the cider... I quickly switched back!!

Was a good match though in a good spirit (and closer than the score suggests)- thanks Stevie.

Nicki told me shes been tying to contact him but shes getting no reply too. if he did pull out me and marc would lose out the most cos we're the only ones to beat him, it would make the top of league closer tho

That's the risk you run with going with a system that rewards winning on a sliding scale.  It'll just demonstrate that when Mark Cooper has won matches generally he's won by a larger margin than Mark Reynolds.

Safe to say there is no perfect scoring system, we've been through all this before.  Fault can be found with any system if results go a certain way.

I agree that if Mark R wins his last 2 matches but finishes 2nd, Mark C would have lost 2 matches and stayed top it would look strange, but some international sports have more complicated scoring systems which sometimes gives odd looking outcomes.

Had they have been in the appropriate section this might not have happened as they would have been playing people of similar standard every match biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Jaz 10v1 Ash Street

We played on the spangly new tables at Rileys... turns out they were a bit too spangly and new coz we both had issues controlling the white ball. Think Ash would like a rematch on a different table! But I'll take that result wink There was some good potting and doubling in there from me to save me when position had run awry!

Tom btw the website hasn't been updated with my previous result against James Watson either. That was 10-3 to me.
