This game turned out to be much closer that we'd hoped. I have to say that the Plough played really well and probably deserved to get something out of this.

SQUEAKY BUM TIME AS LEAGUE REACHES PENULTIMATE WEEKEND
With only 2 fixtures remaining to ensure a place in either the Summer Cup or Shield Competitions,
a number of teams are relying on results, other than their own, to make sure they continue the
season following the conclusion of the group stages.
The Cross Keys are the only team undefeated and have secured their place in the Cup. Baring
disasters, Oracle A, Wootton A, Red Lion, Tandem & Peachcroft B will along with Cross Keys, fill
6 of the 8 places in the Cup with 5 other teams fighting it out for the remaining 2 places.
Biggest losers from last weekend were Peachcroft A and Midget C who lost and drew their matches
respectively. Both were overtaken by Midget A and Crown, who now have a realistic chance to steal
one of the remaining 2 places.
Things are no clearer in the fight for a place in the Summer Shield with the teams in 17th, 18th, 19th
& 20th all still in with a chance of making the top 16. Realistically, there are 6 teams fighting for 2 places
as most of the protagonists either play each other, or higher placed teams and would require a upset to
improve their chances.
League Members are reminded that there are only 8 days remaining for proposals for the AGM (the AGM
will cover the 2009/10 winter Season and 2010 Summer Season) and for nominations for the positions of
League Secretary and League Treasurer.
NO PROPOSALS OR NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY 2nd AUGUST
Players are also reminded that the Summer Singles will take place on Sunday 9th August at Oracle Snooker
Club with the first session starting at 11am.
Players should check the draw sheet/website for their start/registration time (players who are indicated as having
received a BYE should also attend at the correct time as they may no longer have a BYE). If unsure about your
start/registration time, players should contact the Secretary a.s.a.p.
Late arriving players will be docked 1 Frame every 10 minutes after their start time.
There will be NO EXCEPTIONS or excuses accepted

The final group matches take place this weekend with rivals Midget 'A' and Midget 'C' fighting for the final place in the Summer Cup.
Peachcroft 'A' currently hold the final place and victory over Midget 'C' will see them secure it regardless of the Midget 'A' result. For Midget 'C' to qualify, they must beat Peachcroft, and hope that Midget 'A' drop points at Black Swan. A win for both Midget teams would see the A's qualify. For their part, Black Swan also need a win to secure their place in the Summer Shield. Things are no clearer in the race for places in the
Summer Shield, with 5 teams in with a chance to fill the 4 remaining places. things are even more cloudy as none of those teams play any of their rivals, so will the phone lines be red hot with teams checking on each others' progress
Captain's are reminded that there are only 4 days remaining for Committee Nominations or proposals for the AGM to be received by the Secretary.

The Keys finished the group stage win a 100% record after recording a somewhat fortuitous win last night. I think a draw would have been a fair result.......we'll take the win though
