Tandem tame the Lion but not until the final round
A tricky table with a left hand roll and hampered cueing plus a strong opposition so nearly caused an upset - told you lot we shoyuld have lost at beringsfield so this tie was at the Tandem.....
Joe lost 2 - 1 Jamie won 2 - 0 Nick won 2 - 1 Keith lost 2 - 1 Marcus lost 2 - 1
final score Tandem 7 - Red Lion Drayton 7
Marcus wins the shoot out with a top draw clearance..... 8 - 7 to the mandem
Boundary house next then at the Tandem.......

Come on the Boundary House....................Bring on the BIG BOYS
Boundary 8. Oracle 7.
Round ONE - Matty Hearne v Hazel Dabrowski
Hazel drew first blood but only at my expense as i went in off the black after leaving her 3 colours on the table 0-1. I then managed to treble the black to level it 1-1 after Hazel tried to put the black safe. Final frame & i got down to the black & tried to knock it into play from behind her yellow but white went around the table & potted Hazels colour giving her 2 visits with 3 colours & a black to finish. Good finish Hazel & well played.
Round TWO - Karl Walker v Mark Pitfield
Mark got off to a flyer with a break & dish 1-0. Well done Mark great clearance. Karl then slowly got back into it after a couple of dodgy misses & clearing the table leaving mark with 5 reds on the table? ( I think?) Final frame & Mark nearly had another chance for a clearance but failed to pott on his first go leaving Karl to take the easier colours & go on to win it. Well played Karl.
Round THREE - John Williams v Richard Saunders
This was closer than the score suggests as Rich played well but had some bad luck. John played really well with two good clearances to win 2-0. Nice one mate
Round FOUR - Sid Ponting v Danny Crossan
Well what can i say.......this one was PAINFULL to watch, both players had a nightmare which we were all having to live . Sid took first blood after Danny got down to the black & tried to back cut it in but missed completly.......Sid potted the black. 1-0. Next two frames were just as painful with Sid rapping his first cue against the wall?...... "Anybody got a cue i can borrow".......
Danny manged to get the better of Sid & won 2-1..........Finally
Round FIVE - Phil Hearne v Martin Rowland
Saving our BEST player till last. Both players played really well & this could of gone either way, Phil took the first frame with a great clearance to go 1-0 up. well done mate. Then Martin kicked into gear & played some good pool to win the match 2-1 taking it to a 1 frame play off.
This was it 7-7 with one frame to play for, lots of nerves but some good shots. Martin having first go to win it getting to the black & missing the cut, leaving Phil the white & black 2 inchs apart. What can i say but a fantastic shot from Phil firing the black the full length of the table to pot it in the top corner to win............he then got bundled.... Nice one Dad you deserve to play every week, you will be a great asset to the Cross Keys team but if you get dropped for any reason just remember.......NOTHING PERSONNAL....HUH? .........WE LOVE YA MATE CHEERS.

I'M SURE PHIL WOULD NEVER TAKE IT PERSONALLY! I MEAN ITS NOT LIKE A HEARNE TO THROW HIS TOYS OUT THE PRAM WHEN THEY GET DROPPED

I knew Phil would take it personally! He has not been kicked out of the side, however with only 3 games to go and Phil not playing for us next year, I am trying to do the best for the team. By playing Phil that does nothing constructive for next season, especially as we have nothing to play for! To add to that Phil is clearly the 6th best player in a 5 man team, just see most wins table for that!
Anyway I look forward to the Tandem vrs Keys match next year should be interesting.
And to stay on thread - Go Midget A, would be great to see them get to the final, although I think it will be a WBL v Tandem final?

Paul,
What do you expect my dad to feel then? you have known him for a few years now when you started playing for us at the P.O.W so you go back along way. Im frankly disgusted with the way he has been treated weather it be intentional or "for the good off the team" rubbish......he has played with 100% effort for the demo's when he's been picked, at least have the decency to let him finish the season, you said it yourself "especially as we have nothing to play for!" so whats the problem. If i remember rightly you were asked to play for the Tandem next season & you said you wouldn't be playing for my dad, but didn't my dad ask you to play for him a couple of times in the Abingdon summer league? i didn't hear him saying no i cant ask paul because "I am trying to do the best for the team. By playing Paul that does nothing constructive for next season"?. I think you only stopped playing him because your pissed off he's going to another team? when your clearly doing the same?!! Paul im not going to fall out about this its not my business but when it involves my dad then i make it my business, so im sorry if you think im poking my nose in.
Tandem v's Keys............no contest keys all the way.. you'll see!
As for WBL v Tandem final?...................im happy being the underdogs as we love upsets!!

I don't think its a fair comparison. I know that Phil had asked to play for the blackbird next winter league, and that was near the start of the season, but I have continued to play him. When I am captain (Thursday League), I keep it simple and that is playing the best 5 players I have at my disposal, irrespective of what happened last week. Phil has played over 50% of the matches for us this season, last Thursday he was the 6th best player available to me and with the fact he is not playing next season there is no value in playing him.
The comparison between Summer Abingdon and Thursday Winter is not relevant, as you have no team for the winter league. I have started a new team from the Tandem and that has no relation to the Winter league on Thursdays! I have no problem at all with Phil playing for the keys on Thursdays, as it makes sense that he wants to play in the same team as you, he also clearly wants to play every week.
By playing me in the summer league was more due to you being desperate for players as I recall! So it was for the good of the team!
I have enjoyed playing with you both for the last 3 years and am sorry you think its disgusting the way he has been treated, thats what happens when you have a squad of players! The player who is left out is never happy, but thats not my problem, if he had won a higher percentage of his games he would have played. I had only planned to drop him for one game rather than kick him out of the team as you state, however after all this, I'll need to think again, but by the sounds of it, Phil wouldn't want to play anyway.
I'm sure I will enjoy playing against you both as well! Anyway thats enough rant on here, if you or phil want to discuss this you have my number!
Tandem Mandem give us a wave. The interesting question is whether the new tandem can continue the tandem era? I don't think so.
I agree.......the old Tandem were far better. anyway there's a new team in town...................................KEYS ARMY.........KEYS ARMY......KEYS ARMY..............KEYS ARMY.................KEYS ARMY..............
time for a few upsets this season.......................

Up the Mandem!
You were asked NOT because we were desperate but because you said you would fill in if needed, we could of easily asked someone else. As for the GOOD of the team not sure on that one, it helps if you try & look interested when you where playing, it seemed like you didn't really care what happened in your games hence the 2-0 loss? you don't normally play like that????
I thought you said "however with only 3 games to go and Phil not playing for us next year, I am trying to do the best for the team. By playing Phil that does nothing constructive for next season" ??????????????? CONTRADICT YOURSELF MATE!!!!
Also why send him a text saying " I have enjoyed playing with you this season, nothing personal " ??? sounds to me like the end of the road does it not?. i personally think our conversation has given you good cause to definatly drop him now & your going to use this to justify it. He's better off out of there anyway.

My my, I have missed a lot in the one day that i've been away! Or was I away? Perhaps I was really here but was just too scared and embarassed to post the fact that the Keys lost.......
Honestly, you can't win can you........post a victory, get slagged off........don't post a loss, get slagged off........
All I can say is well played The Midget A. Good luck for the SF!
And finally, I can't wait to see the new look Keys army wipe that smug Mandem smile away next season

you know me better than to think I would not be interested in any match I play, I am far too competitive to not give 100%. What was your excuse then as you also lost 2 - 0 that night along with Millhouse and Steve!
I am not contradicting myself, let me make it clearer for you. There are two reasons why Phil was dropped for one match. 1.) Phil was the 6th best player available to me 2.) Phil is not playing for the team next season.
One Reason would have been enough for me to drop him but I had two. Thats my choice as captain, maybe if you stood up and accpeted some responsibility by captaining a side you would understand better.
I sent the text as I had not heard back from Phil after he was told he was not needed for the game, and I honestly didn't want to upset him as I have enjoyed playing with you guys, but you can interpret things differently in texts.
Phil would not be playing this week as again he is the 6th best player available to me, but yes after everything that has been said on here I don't think it would be appropriate that he plays this season.
Finally you convieniently you have neglected to talk about the fact Phil asked the Blackbird to play for them early in the season, which had no impact on my selections from that point forward. This contradicts your whole argument that I have based my decisions purely because I am not happy he is going somewhere else. Truth be told it looks like we may be in the prem next year and I think Phil would be the 7th best player in the squad if he had of stayed! So all in all its best for all parties.
Anyway we can all put this behind us, we are not playing in the same team now, we can let the pool do the talking!!!
I can understand why phil acted the way he has. I think the problem was that as i spoke to steve at the oracle and told him that i had asked phil to play for the cross keys and then paul told him he was droped and it looked to be a personal. If paul had told phill why he was being droped and made sure Phill new the reasons why. You wouldnt be having a bitch fest. At the end of the day there's no point in falling out when both teams are happy with the arrangement. Especially me.
I am not contradicting myself, let me make it clearer for you. There are two reasons why Phil was dropped for one match. 1.) Phil was the 6th best player available to me 2.) Phil is not playing for the team next season.
All I can say is if this is how you pick your team line up you will lose players in the long run as people will be reluctant to sign on for your team if previous weeks results count for nothing ! A certain Oxford team was ran that way and we all know what hapened there don't we.....
Thats never been the Tandem way of picking a team - oh dear............
Got to say I love the bitchin already but wait till you come to the mighty CLUB !
