I think a few of you guys need to get out more.
Most of you guys don't even trial for the County Teams but are on here as if winning the Summer/Winter league is equivalent to winning the World Championships
As for your reasons stated above
1, considering you haven't won anything it doesn't say much about your other 5 players. whilst there's a mutitude of varibles that can cost a frame, guaranteeing the 5 "best" players in your team a place every week regardless of their results can, as Beefy points out, be counter productive
2, Surely this is irrelevant, the matches you're playing now win you things "this" season. Do you seriously think Man Utd wouldn't have played Ronaldo if his transfer had been agreed before the end of the season
Beefy wrote:Thats never been the Tandem way of picking a team
Well you've never had 5 "best" players

you know me better than to think I would not be interested in any match I play, I am far too competitive to not give 100%. What was your excuse then as you also lost 2 - 0 that night along with Millhouse and Steve!
I am not contradicting myself, let me make it clearer for you. There are two reasons why Phil was dropped for one match. 1.) Phil was the 6th best player available to me 2.) Phil is not playing for the team next season.
One Reason would have been enough for me to drop him but I had two. Thats my choice as captain, maybe if you stood up and accpeted some responsibility by captaining a side you would understand better.
I sent the text as I had not heard back from Phil after he was told he was not needed for the game, and I honestly didn't want to upset him as I have enjoyed playing with you guys, but you can interpret things differently in texts.
Phil would not be playing this week as again he is the 6th best player available to me, but yes after everything that has been said on here I don't think it would be appropriate that he plays this season.
Finally you convieniently you have neglected to talk about the fact Phil asked the Blackbird to play for them early in the season, which had no impact on my selections from that point forward. This contradicts your whole argument that I have based my decisions purely because I am not happy he is going somewhere else. Truth be told it looks like we may be in the prem next year and I think Phil would be the 7th best player in the squad if he had of stayed! So all in all its best for all parties.
Anyway we can all put this behind us, we are not playing in the same team now, we can let the pool do the talking!!!
YOUR STARTING TO WIND ME UP NOW...................!!
LET ME MAKE IT CLEARER FOR YOU PAUL SHALL I, HERE ARE THE FACTS FROM THIS SUMMER LEAGUE CURRENT STANDINGS FOR YOUR SUPER TEAM, LET ME KNOW WHO YOUR 5 "BEST" PLAYERS ARE PLEASE ON CURRENT STANDINGS? OR WHEN YOU SAID "BEST" PLAYERS AVAILABLE DOES THAT MEAN YOUR SAYING JEZ IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN MY DAD AS HE WAS THE PLAYER WHO MUST OF REPLACED PHIL LAST WEEK & THATS THE REAL REASON YOU DROPPED HIM COMBINED WITH THE FACT PHIL WANTED TO MOVE............HUH! AS A MATTER OF FACT JEZ IS YOUR 6TH BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE TO YOU DONT YOU THINK????

AS YOU PUT IT "maybe if you stood up and accpeted some responsibility by captaining a side you would understand better" I HAVE BEEN CAPTAIN FOR TWO SEASON IN THE PAST & WOULD NEVER PICK A TEAM YOUR WAY CAUSE IT DONT WORK & SURELY AS YOUR THE CAPTAIN DONT YOU THINK WITH THE ABOVE TABLE YOU WOULD OF BEEN ABLE TO WORK OUT WHO YOUR 6TH "BEST" PLAYER WAS??? "Truth be told it looks like we may be in the prem next year and I think Phil would be the 7th best player in the squad if he had of stayed" HOW THE HELL CAN YOU SAY THIS WITHOUT ANYONE PLAYING YOU WOULDN'T KNOW WHO YOUR BEST PLAYERS WERE UNLESS WE ARE TALKING ABILITY?.....YOU REALLY ARE SOMETHING ELSE!!
LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONSE..................M8?
MY APOLOGIES THAT THIS HAS ENDED UP ON THE ABINGDON FORUM MING.

Ohhh, don't apoligise dear boy. Nice to see the Boundary House entertaining us as we approach the sharp end of the season (sharp; maybe not the best word to use lol).
Anyway, have you parlimentary ambitions? Your use of statistics to support your arguement would get you a cabinet job IMO.
However, i'm a stickler for fair play, now whats that saying? oh yes; Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics. So whilst Phil is higher up on the Thursday rankings than Jez, this has to be weighed against the fact that Phil has played more matches than Jez

So, I've added a percentage column, in the sprit of fairness, which gives a different perspective on things. However, this doesnt allow for the aforementioned varibles or which team/player anyone played.

I wouldn't pick any players on percentage i would always look at last weeks results to see which players are in form? we all know everyone can have good & bad weeks plus like you say ming this all depends on who you play, how the frame pans out etc.

With the statistics you can see that Jez is a better player, without them, I know he is the better player, I would be suprised if most players who knew both would disagree excluding family.
Funny you say about the last game to pick the team, as I clearly remeber you slating Steve on here for dropping you at the Rover, despite you playing the worst in the game before (in the captains opinion) and having a chance to redeem yourself in a playoff which you lost. So you can't have it both ways, either based on last weeks or the strongest players!

we had to play a one frame playoff? If you remember rightly Paul dave 7 balled me, i only broke. I hardly had a chance to redeem myself did i ?
Good luck in the Oxford prem i'll be watching to see what you win?

Sorry Jamie but The Tandem teams have always had the ethic if you win and can play the next week you will play regardless of whether that player is good or not.
Your just one of many captains that pub pool team has had who have played that way.....
Only decision captains have to make is the order, who to drop from the losers and how to overcome the issue of who to drop if everyone has won if more than the bear minimum are available.

Yes Beefy unfortunately I remember that bizzare ocassion a couple of season ago when I was perched on top of Overall Most Wins and Woody dropped me for the following weeks game because i lost!! Even hough I was not the only one to lose!!
When I captain a team I always make sure that if any player who is at the top / near the top of most wins plays because it would be nice to see them pick up a trophy.

The point is matty, when you were dropped for losing the previous match and a play off, you threw your toys out the pram and slated steve publically on the forum. You want things run a certain way, unless that applies to you, then you get pissed off and slag people off on the forum.
As for your excuses! maybe you should learn to break better then people won't dish you off the break!
I agree with Jamie, there are so many factors that need to be taken into account when picking the team, many of which I will not discuss publicly as its not fair on those involved.
Thanks for the good luck, am looking forward to my first season in the prem, should be very interesting.

Well done for being so perfect Paul... of course your too good to be dropped? i forgot...... I like the way you turn this whole argument around to me, when it was originally about your selection process & why you dropped my dad? this had nothing to do with my situation "LAST WINTER SEASON" you must of run out of things to throw back at me. We will be playing for a far better team with great team spirit and a bunch of guy's who will always be 100% better than an arogant bloke like you. I used to think you were a spot on bloke................ not anymore.

Jamie if you were a good captain, you would have noticed that you have the best player that has ever existed available for sunday. Yet you seem to be only having 2 players in the squad. Plus I can't believe its possible that you have forgot about COLZY!!!!
Paul and Matty should spend the time allocated to arguing on this forum, on a pool table instead and that way they may get to the standard of the Mighty Tandem.
