Just to let you know how the Oxford players are getting on in Bridlington at the Blackball world championships...

Jaz, Shelley & Alex on the ladies B1s are looking good for topping the group, currently on 5/5 wins with two matches left to play.

Malc and Kev on the seniors have won 3/4 matches and should make semis comfortably.

Nicki and Steph on the Ladies B2s also in with a decent shout for making the semis, following a good win over Soctland B1s, but will need to win prob 3 of the 4 remaining matches to qualify.

Think all our players are now out of the singles, but Alex n Jaz made the last 32 in the ladies. Nicki also had a good run to last 64 but was then shafted by the organisers. Grrrrrrr.

Will let you know how we got on in a couple of days!  The semis and final will be played on Friday!!

Woooooooo! Well done to Jaz, Shelley, Alex, and the rest of the England Ladies B1 for winning the B-team event! Sadly the B2s did not make it to the semis, but the B1s did a great job beating the Scots in both the semis and the final!  biggrin

Thanks Steph n Moo!

Although our team was strong all week, it gets a bit nerve-wracking once your into the knockout stages, and for both the semis and finals I was not sure we were gonna make it until the final frame was won. Team had really good strength and depth tho, everyone contributing to get us over the line.

Although it was two scottish teams we faced in the finals, at the group stage we faced more different teams than previously.  We had to face Northern Ireland, Shetlands, Wales, 2 Scotland teams, England B2 & Isle of Man.

Nicki and Steph both did really well on their debut perforance in the B2s, both winning enough to return to the team next year.  Well done girlies!

The England seniors with Malc and Kev got to the final but lost to Southern Ireland at the last hurdle.

The England Mens B1s won both the Speedpool event and the team event. Well done Mark Priest et al.
