KENNINGTON 9-6 WOOTON RBL Lot more easier than the result suggest we were 6-0 up at one stage just started to relax a bit to early but never the less a good fight back from wooton with a little luck played quite well but cant moan with beefy on the team i hope your feeling better tim after your preformance(waited till 6-0 down to complain about the table) mind you we have only played 7 matches on it this season(sunday, monday, thursday) and no complains till last night
Table played in match against Peachcroft - they were happy........
Table not used in match against Plough as we were able to use the other table on dance floor area - no complaints about that table
Table used in match against wootton as dance floor table covered due to bar billiard match (note this was rearranged and would not normally be on a sunday) wotton start their B.I.T.C.H.I.N.G from the off.......... and are really cursing after going 6 - 0 down !
Monday night league
The table is used by the B team and I have not heard anything from ASH to imply teams have been complaining about it.
We use the one on the Dancefloor but after last nights Bar Billiard match is has become clear that we will not be able to use it when they have a match so ASH if you read this we will have to swap some fixtures but I will let you know which ones now Mark has done the BB fixtures.
Thursday night league
I am not sure which table is used by the teams on Thursdays but once again have not heard any comments back from Julian regarding the club tables
In summary WOOTTON are the only ones I know about who have made an issue of it !
All I can say is your table better comply with league requirements after making such a song and dance about ours last night.......................
I will speak to Justin next time I see him and pass the comments on regarding lighting on the table but in fairness we will not use that table unless forced into it. The dance floor table has a dedicated light over it as a temporary solution until the fixings are put in place for the proper light but given this is also used for the dancefloor I don't know what the long term solution will be but the lighting is good enough anyway.

Firstly it wasnt an easy win for you, you somehow found yourself 6-0 when it could easily have been 3-3. We gave you a good match and it was tight at 6-5. Ill take a 9-6 loss after our start thank you.
And secondly it wasnt all of us moaning about the tables. It was one person. And he happens to be chairman of the league. All he said was it should have a light above it, and hes right. I didnt like the table, and im not using that as an excuse. Im just giving my opinion. Bloody hell i dont even like Woottons table for Christ Sake.
Get off your high horses now.

Just to point out that that table has been used in the Thursday league for the past 2 seasons without a complaint being made. Also, there is a light above the table - its on the ceiling!

Your only jealous because the voices only talk to me!
First of all i was not saying it was easy i meant after being 6-0 we should have won by a bigger margain but we didn't and second of all i am not saying that he had no right to complain but my question to you and tim is why wait till 6-0 down to start saying about the table and to be honest he went quiet at 6-5 till it was the end of the match and also it was the same for both teams not just yours so you get off your highhorse and GROW UP!
Just because you was 6 - 0 doesnt mean you should have won by a bigger margin?!
Actually I didnt wait until we were 6 - 0 down, I played first in the first set and had a little moan about the table playing inconsistent during my frame.
And you obviously dont know the meaning of the term "get off your high horse" because you havnt used it in the right context you ballsack!

This makes a change............... "NO CROSS KEYS INVOLVEMENT"...........best stay out of this one Karl..... well at least until we've had a chance to play there, then we can complain
Tim wasnt even moaning about the table, he was merely stating that there is no pool light above the table. And seeing as he is the chairman of the league it is his place to say something. Its in the rules that you are supposed to have a pool light. Whats the point if rules are not abided by all parties.
There was nothing wrong with the table, I just felt that some cushions were springy, and some were dead. There was no roll etc.
This makes a change............... "NO CROSS KEYS INVOLVEMENT"...........best stay out of this one Karl..... well at least until we've had a chance to play there, then we can complain
Now lets see what you will complain about....
Food - I don't think so, Drink prices - I don't think so, Table not level - I don't think so, Lighting - not likely as we will be playing on the dancefloor table Match balls - not likely as the dance floor table has a brand new set of balls in it and is only used for matches
BUT
Don't worry you have plenty to complain about when you join the GROWING CLUB of losers that have come and left cursing so far.... only peachcroft have dented our start by beating us in the TKO.....curses but we had revenge in the league two weeks later.......yes !
The honorable members so far
Plough Wotton RBL
Whats this I hear the mighty Mandem is not quite the mighty Mandem anymore losing to the Cross Keys - come on Colsy whats gone wrong.......

Its quite funny really if Julian and Greg were playing with us at the Club on Sundays it would be THE OLD TANDEM TEAM going back about 5 years.
Sid, Mark, Keith, Greg, Julian Ray,
Others had spells in the team and there were too many of them to list but this list was the back bone of the team for many years and funny thing is the team STARTED playing at the Club first before moving accross the road back in the 90's !

Ah thats a priceless post seeing as he was barracking our players most of the night
Not that it bothers me I've seen it all before and thats the great thing about the Abingdon league its always been part of the spirit in which the pool matches are played in.
Before Tim gets too upset this is a tongue in cheek posting I know he was only only having a bit of fun and he did aim most of it at me anyway and I have been around to long to let that bother me.

Sorry to disappoint you, Beefy but I have actually played there this season. I played my Thursday singles on the table on the dance floor and it was very, very inconsistent.......actually, it was crap!
Ask any of Mark Pitfield, Ash P-L or Pete Mac if you want confirmation. In fact, Pete nearly got hit by a falling cable whilst playing a crucial shot in one frame......what's going on there?!
I heard that the other table didn't get favourable comment either but I could be wrong.....
As for the Tandem......nothing's wrong. They were just beaten by the better team on the night. Don't get me wrong, it was very close and we only just won but I think we just about deserved it........
Food - I don't think so, correct! we will eat anything??!! Drink prices - I don't think so, Not worried im not drinking!! Table not level - I don't think so, Cross keys isn't perfect so no worries there!! Lighting - not likely as we will be playing on the dancefloor table, as long as you put the strobe lighting on we will be o.k?! Match balls - not likely as the dance floor table has a brand new set of balls in it and is only used for matches, Im sure we could find at least one mark / scratch to blame!!
BUT
Don't worry you have plenty to complain about when you join the GROWING CLUB of losers that have come and left cursing so far ( i can only see one set of losers!! you haven't had the pleasure of seeing some of our flukes yet!! some from the book of Hollis??) .... only peachcroft have dented our start by beating us in the TKO.....curses but we had revenge in the league two weeks later.......yes !

Whats this I hear the mighty Mandem is not quite the mighty Mandem anymore losing to the Cross Keys - come on Colsy whats gone wrong....... As if losing to us is a bad thing? would be nice to read " Well done cross keys for playing so well and getting a result" but no. especially against the so called better teams. It does annoy me when people think there better than other! anyway beefy if i remember rightly your old Tandem team got turned over many times by the P.O.W Shippon which is basically the same team as the cross keys
And before you come back & get off your high horse im just giving an oppinion & not having an attack at you

GET IT RIGHT MR HOLLIS I ASKED B4 THE MATCH YOU SHOULD HAVE A LIGHT ABOVE THE TABLE, AND WHY IS IT EVERY TIME ITS YOUR VENUE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TABLE? THE TABLE WAS NOT BAD BUT THE LIGHT WAS VERY POOR AND AS FOR THE BAR BILLARDS MATCH THAT TABLE IS ON THE STAGE AND MUST BE TEN FEET OR MORE AWAY SO NO REASON NOT TO PLAY ON IT. YOU ALSO SAID WE NORMALY PLAY ON IT BUT THE LEAGUE IS ONLY 3 WEEKS OLD AND ALREADY YOU PLAED 2 MATCHES ON THAT DARK HOLE THIS IS SUNDAY NIGHT NOT MONDAY OR SOMETIME WHEN YOU TURN UP IT MIGHT AS WELL BE MONDAY
Monday night league

YOU VERY WELL KNOW I ASKED STRAIGHT AWAY ABOUT THE TABLE BEFORE A BALL WAS HIT I WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE FIRST MATCH. I THEN ASKED A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT LIGHTING ECT AND WAS TOLD BY KEVIN THAT YES A LIGHT REALY SHOULD BE ABOVE THE TABLE AND TOO TELL YOU THAT UNTIL A LIGHT GOES ABOVE IT YOU CAN NOT PLAY ON IT AS NO OTHER TEAM HAS THIS. AND I EAS TALKING TO YOUR CAPTAIN AS CHAIRMAN NOT YOU
Throughout this season I shall be visiting all pubs/clubs in the league as it is clear, already, that some couldn't care less about the standard of their table. balls, lighting etc....
Those teams that don't come up to scratch will receive a letter from me indicating what I expect to improve and quickly. Failure to take heed will result in NO competitions being played at that venue and NO home draws in the Team KO and Team KO (plate)
Whilst I can do very little about league matches in the short term, venues that don't come up to scratch will not be allowed to enter the league in future seasons.
Finally, I don't give a damn about Bar Billiards, Aunt Sally, Darts, Tiddly-Winks, Pin the Tail on the Donkey etc or what standard of venues are acceptable in any other league. This is the Abingdon Pool League and if you're treated like a second class citizen perhaps you should consider playing somewhere else.......
