Sorry to disappoint you, Beefy but I have actually played there this season. I played my Thursday singles on the table on the dance floor and it was very, very inconsistent.......actually, it was crap!

Ask any of Mark Pitfield, Ash P-L or Pete Mac if you want confirmation. In fact, Pete nearly got hit by a falling cable whilst playing a crucial shot in one frame......what's going on there?!

Firstly the table gets moved regularly at weekends and therefore if I am not in there playing Sunday or Monday it won't get levelled back up as its simply wheeled back into place, as I am the only one that bothers to do it ! so IT WILL BE STRAIGHT when you play US in the league.

Cables don't fall by themselves - did he swing his cue at it ?

I was down there with Greg night in the Monday singles and offered to straighten it up as one end was rolling but both players said not to worry about it.

I heard that the other table didn't get favourable comment either but I could be wrong.....

As for the Tandem......nothing's wrong. They were just beaten by the better team on the night. Don't get me wrong, it was very close and we only just won but I think we just about deserved it........

That is true you did beat us a FEW times after all you can't win em all as they say..............

I know your only joking but really what did you expect after the rift in the old boundary house team at the close of the summer season.

I look forward to seeing some of these so called Hollis style flukes - unless they go off 3 cushions and two balls and the white lands perfect on the next one there not worthy of that name !

YOU VERY WELL KNOW I ASKED STRAIGHT AWAY ABOUT THE TABLE BEFORE A BALL WAS HIT I WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE FIRST MATCH.
I THEN ASKED A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT LIGHTING ECT AND WAS TOLD BY KEVIN THAT YES A LIGHT REALY SHOULD BE ABOVE THE TABLE AND TOO TELL YOU THAT UNTIL A LIGHT GOES ABOVE IT YOU CAN NOT PLAY ON IT AS NO OTHER TEAM HAS THIS.
AND I EAS TALKING TO YOUR CAPTAIN AS CHAIRMAN NOT YOU

Just to clarify the issue I spoke to Justin last night and he is going to chase the club chairman who has a PROPER light and has been promising to get it put up for sometime now. It currently sits on the table next to the bar billiard table on the stage which is no use at all !

Its being dealt with...............

Tim you might have spoke to Sid but you also mentioned it to me which is why I spoke to Justin last night ! I can't comment on comments said prior to my arrival during the second frame so I plead the 5th there......

Sorry but we did level it up as Boinky helped me do it ! I can't help what happens after I left on the Sunday and besides I am not the residential table leveller responsible for ensuring it stays level but I will do it before any match I am playing in there.

Throughout this season I shall be visiting all pubs/clubs in the league as it is clear, already, that some couldn't care less about the standard of their table. balls, lighting etc....

Those teams that don't come up to scratch will receive a letter from me indicating what I expect to improve and quickly. Failure to take heed will result in NO competitions being played at that venue and NO home draws in the Team KO and Team KO (plate)

Whilst I can do very little about league matches in the short term, venues that don't come up to scratch will not be allowed to enter the league in future seasons.

Finally, I don't give a damn about Bar Billiards, Aunt Sally, Darts, Tiddly-Winks, Pin the Tail on the Donkey etc or what standard of venues are acceptable in any other league. This is the Abingdon Pool League and if you're treated like a second class citizen perhaps you should consider playing somewhere else.......

So, it looks like the Abingdon league will be folding next season then with these new rules!
I think you will find it quite hard to find a table in the league that "comes up to scratch and within the rules"
I will look forward to reading your report of all the tables in the league.

How was my posting ****stirring ? I do not make personal attacks and use foul language, that is why i have pointed this posting out!

I think you need to have a look a little closer at the distance between the pool and bar billiard table actually is. You must also remember that when people are stood playing bar billiards as it is a timed game, its not like you can just stand aside so the pool player can take their shot.  Also, there would be nowhere for all 4 teams to sit around there.

Just to point out that that table has been used in the Thursday league for the past 2 seasons without a complaint being made.
Also, there is a light above the table - its on the ceiling!

Making silly comments like this tho does not help and you had lighting for your bar billiards match.

and beefy tells me this was a rearranged match does it normaly happen on sundays?

It's rare for a Bar Billiards match to be on a Sunday

Tim to be fair that lighting was put up some months back when the table was first put in.

Mark is quite correct about the space and if you looked closely over there you would have seen 12 people in a semi circle at the top of the pool table. Bar Billiards is a game where away players want to watch the table as they don't get a practice like in pool they have to read the table as they play. this means everyone is watching very closely for which way the table rolls, amount of side on shots, pace etc.

Iy we played on that table players would have been sat way back from both tables so a bit of common sense has to apply.

That is why if bar billiards are at home especially a league match then the dance floor table is not practical and therefore we need to get the other one rectified and I have explained this to Justin.

I only started playing pool there a little while back and I would like a light over the table we played on and HAVE chased it up with Justin and will continue to do so a regular intervals.

and you though i was irish.....

So, and correct me if I'm wrong, the club has 2 tables; one on the dance floor that is moved regularly and has a proper light which i assume is also moved/taken down when discos etc on? And another table which, i'm assuming is in a perminant position but doesn't have a proper light

YOU WHAT !!!

If i remember rightly you play the same shot 3/4 times and then leave a ball up, if successful in potting both balls in the 4th/5th shot you start over again, playing the same 3/4 shots and so on...

Unless of course you're crap, in which case you should take up tiddly winks....

Excuse you?

And when did we get a practice on Sunday?

Our whole team had arrived before even 3 of yours. You hogged the table until your team came, and then when you had all arrived you still had the bloody cheek to have a practice on it, without offering us one before starting the match.

Perhaps you should get a captain will a bit of nous, or maybe you should say your piece on the Sunday rather than 4 days later. DEMAND a practice rather than sit there like the gay boy Tandem player you used to be.... or act your age now you're 18

Another poor loser eh! whilst you could arguably moan about the inclusion of Marcus, he will play again should he be working in the area during the rest of the season but Rob, who played 2 frames, was hardly a ringer. He didn't know the rules and was drunk but managed to win a frame lol.  Also, unfiortunately for you we left Fuller at the Midget, otherwise you might've won, though in reality, we keep him for the BIG games...

Lest you forget that when you played for the Boundary House & Prince of Wales, you drafted in Karl Walker for certain matches so get back to polishing your pots and kettles....

You dangle a maggot on this forum & your guaranteed to catch a fish!!...........Your just a little tooooo predictable Mr McIlroy & a little to eager to bite considering it was a JOKE!! laughing.gif i knew Marcus was down here doing a job i was speaking with him about it... as for Rob? if you read the statement again Mr McIlroy it says " considering you HAD to bring A ringer in just to play us?" reference to Marcus...Obviously??biggrin

& another thing why we are here where does it say in the rules you can open the folded score card on a blind draw & look before deciding where to play your players? or is this another case of " Rule bending is aloud because you make the rules" confuse or maybe DISRESPECT! boo.gif

Just for you MR RULES!! biggrinbiggrin

A BLIND draw is to be used to determine who plays who; the order of play should be written down separately by each Captain before the match, and then transferred onto the result card. In all cases players cannot be changed if they are subsequently unable to play unless the Captain of the opposing team is agreeable. The order of matches can also only be altered once the fixture has started if both Captains agree.

you need to get your fact straight mate.

1. I DIDN'T HOG THE TABLE AS YOU PUT IT - I didn't arrive until mid way though the first leg so how could I !

Did you ask for a practice frame ?

you know the rules in abingdon you have a practice frame if your on time but unlike the OXFORD team where the home team have the pay the Abingdon rule is the away team are entitled to a knock if they want one.

2. YOU STILL HAD THE BLOODY CHEEK TO HAVE A PRACTICE ON IT - If you call my match frame agaisnt Gary as practice then I guess I did !

3. Without offering us one before starting the match - did you ask for one ?
