No and it was Pete who could not make it at the last minute last week due to work. so we had only 4 yet again for the second time.

Personally, the league should dock points off teams if they deliberately field weakened sides in these type of situations....

How unfortunate that the DEMOS CHRISTMAS RULE might actually affect the West Oxford Democrats Club.

The demo's Christmas rule has nothing to do with the current team!! So don't really see your point Malc. I just think its a shame that you can only field 3 out of your 7 players, and how strange it is that the interest of those who can't be bothered, has lessened after you have won the league, doesn't show much respect to the rest of the league!

Good luck Jamie hope you can get a result with only 3 players and get the most wins at the same time!

Personally I hope the rule gets changed at this years AGM especially as it was only aimed at one particular team and like I said at the time there are another 48 teams in the sections overall that it could and has affected.

We're going to our last match with a full complement of 5 players, and we've never been short this season, however it's been touch-and-go a couple of times since Christmas. Without the generosity of two of our opponents (Riley's 'B' and Cricketers Arms) in waiting for a late fifth player coming straight from work, we would have fielded less than a full team on a couple of occasions.

I would agree with Streety and others that it's a rule that needs reviewing.

Either your team brings in a million and 1 new players at the end of the season if you need the wins under 1 rule, or, if you don't need the wins you site the new rule as the reason why you can't field a full team; affecting final league positions of other teams.

I think its a typical situation of MOB RULE at an AGM, it is funny how this league ran for 30 years (GOD knows how many seasons maybe 50/60) and survived the CHRISTMAS RULE so to speak!!

Thats a bottle of vodka I owe John then. Its was fun whilst it lasted! Made the bet at 5-1 down and watched us pull it back to 5-4... shoulda seen johns face as BJ bottled his 2nd frame against Benny (or maybe I had just paid him off??) But of course Browny stepped up and won it for Rileys anyway.
