RED LION 9-CROSS KEYS 4
a well deserved spanking. all the games have been close in the past and we have always deserved more frames. we all played quite well and seemed 2 rip the keys apart for the second game in a row. this is the way we need 2 continue 2 have a chance of being up near the top2 show that we can challenge the best.

Ummmm......why? Beat us by the same score on our table and then you can have the bragging rights.....

PS: It's a tad disrespectful to carry on practicing on another table whilst your opponent is playing his shot(s).........

speaking 4 myself we as a team dont need 2 beat u on your table 2 have  the bragging rights its not about bragging rights im just stateing i think we  have been unlucky in the past against u lot but the last 2 games we have shown what we r capable of and as 4 disrespecful thats a load of bollacks im starting 2 enjoy pool abit more and i  hit 2 balls and then stopped on the practice table  the only thing that is disrespectful  is trying 2 slate people on here or teams like u have done in the past i am just giving a match report and i also respect any player i play  if they are better than me or not

I'm not slating anybody......nor have I slated anybody else or any teams in the past (please find some examples if you think I have). I'm just stating my opinion, which i'm perfectly entitled to do - as are you. This is a forum after all.

Anyway, i'm not carrying on another war on here no

we didnt really get into it in the first 2 games but come away with a win in the first could of been a 2-0 loss. doyle didnt really play like he could mark won the 3rd which i thought he deserved it anyway schwietzer had chances in the 4th but lossed both frames and i deserved to lose the first frame in the 5th and thought i was going to lose but then i have played well in the next and won  but then the third leg was just awsome and i could of finished it off in style but give ravi a chance and he blew it then i took it 2-1 i will admit those last 2 frames were the best 2 i have most probably played in a while so thanks ravi for contributeing in that and for my team we shouldnt b letting those chances going we should of been takeing them instead and we could of got more from this game

its nice 2 see a game did go ahead on thursday as ours got cancelled about 2-3 hours b4  the game was due to be played which really should not be aloud 2 happen mr julian woods on the basis that we lost our points last season through the same reason in febuary (the snow)and it did cost us the runners up spot over it and it would b nice 4 u 2 explain as it is the same reason. is this league about who u know or is it run fairly because if it is then this game should b a result 4 the home side. i dont like 2 claim matches as im a sportsman and i like 2 play everygame but things should not go other teams way when other teams have been punished in the past

Before we get into a slanging match over this let me firstly point out that i try to run the league as fairly as i can under the circumstances.

Right lets get on to the point od last years snow and the reasons for you missing out on runners up spot.

Your game last year was classed as void because you did not play the game prior to the last match of the season. This is and was explained to all captains concerned and was published on the web.

Its not the leagues fault that captains concerned disregard my notices.

I WILL SAY AGAIN THAT DUE TO THE RECENT SNOWFALLS ACROSS OUR COUNTY THOSE WHO HAVE ANY OUTSTANDING GAMES MUST BE PLAYED BEFORE THE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON WHICH I CAN CONFIRM IS 25TH MARCH 2010.

IF 2 CAPTAINS CANNOT ARRANGE A DATE FOR BOTH PARTIES THEN THESE MATCHES WILL BE VOID BE WARNED.

firstly it is me that has brought this up not the captain! like i explained 2 u last year when players play 3 nights aweek they cant play it unless it is a thursday the only available date was that spare week at the end off the season. also is there not a rule that there is to b given at least 24hrs notice or i suppose in the oxford league it is when u feel like it because it did snow a couple of days b4 so peole would of known what the conditions was like but then the 2 teams that have played on the website r cowley bound and was able to play so the crown house is only down the road im only bringing this up because u shouldnt b able 2 call a game off with just hrs 2 spare. and as 4 last season when the game was cancellled i dont think it was mentioned 2 the captain that it had 2 b played by the last game of the season  otherwise we would of  we were told it was alright 2 rearrange it.

I spoke to Mark earlier in the day... we were planning to come and play, when I spoke to our driver at 4,.30pm he did not feel comfortable driving 5 people in his car to Kidlington. As I explained to Mark the buses were adhock and were finishing early. I contacted Mark at 4.45pm after i tried to get someone else to take us. We have arranged another date to play (21st January 2010). The captain should have said if he had a problem with rearranging it, and he didn't. Anyway if we had an accident on the way there would have been no one to play anyway. I am not in the habit of travelling in unsafe conditions and I would not encourage anyone to drive in this weather.

like i said its nothink 2 do with the captain im stateing last year i made every effort but couldnt get out of bicester so we arrange it 4 the next available week which wasnt untill the week after the last game because we had team knockout then a match every week and could not play it other than a thursday. but the rules state as julian pointed out that it had 2 b played b4 the last game of the season which we did not know because we hadnt looked into it. and didnt get told about it untill it happened. so i have looked and printed off the rules and it states that a game should not b cancelled within 24hrs unless there is a very important reason which i dont c snow as an important reason its nature. the main roads werent 2 bad we were gonna make the effort as 1 is from greaterleys  2 r from bicester and 1 from islip so most of our team doesnt come from kidlington and have 2 travel just as far and we was going 2 turn up. i spoke 2 mark at about 4.10pm and the game was going ahead i got a text at 6 pm saying it had been cancelled so i am speaking up and saying if julian is saying rules r rules he should stand by it and say wether captins have agreed or not then the home team should b awarded the match not have it cancell 3 hrs b4. we like to play our matches rather than claim them like in past when teams have turned up between 15 mins and 45mins late we havent claimed them we have been sportsman and not claimed a frame where as we have had silly frames taken off us from other teams because they have said rules r rules. to me it seems like  the rules r being bent for other teams  and because we aint been in the league as long as some and didnt know certain things we have been punished i have also noticed  certain teams dont seem to get the rub of the green like win the league  or come runners up or somethink and still dont get promoted whats that all about it should b 2 up or  2 down sorry lads ive most probably dented our hopes now if we ever make it to that position.

Firstly, ouch. Reading that made my head hurt.

Secondly, just because you and the rest of your team felt comfortable getting to the venue doesn't mean that you should be rewarded with the win because the away teams driver did not feel he/she was able to drive the whole team to Kidlington.

Something like 40% of the enitire countries workforce stayed at home due to whether conditions last week. I don't think it's fair for you to make a snap judgement that they were all skiving and could have made it to work/pool matches if they'd really wanted too.

Thirdly, just because you haven't been in the league a long time and don't know all the rules doesn't make you exempt from them. That problem shouldn't arrise anymore now you have downloaded and no doubt studied them.

Finally, you say that your team are a team of sportsman and prefer to play the games and not claim them. What are you hoping to achieve with your rants here? Julian has to use his discression from time to time when deciding what should happen. His job is far from easy and he doesn't deserve to be criticised (well not about the running of the pool league anyway).

im just trying 2 state the rules r the rules that is what he has told me so there for  it snowed 1 or 2 days b4 the match and 24hrs notice should of been given like the rules state not 3 hrs like it doesnt that is y ive criticised the league  ive played in leagues 4 about 14 years and its always been 2 up 2 down  and the rules are also there but there has always been abit of leaveway regarding simple things  rather than important things. im not saying the league is being run bad otherwise it would of not been around as long as it has  im just stateing we have been punished and other teams we have given abit of leaveway 2. maybe we shouldnt of have but we like 2 play every frame we play rather take them

I think the point that Jackpot Wheeler is trying to make is that the opposing team would surely have known a long time before if they were not going to make the game.   Possibly even the day before, so why leave it to the last minute to blame it on the snow ?
Also, with the late notice given, if the food had been prepared, who is liable for the cost ?

In which case as snow is forecast for tonight. I'd like to take this opportunity to cancel our match on Thursday just in case we can't make it.

Normally, people tend to wait until the day, before making a decision as to whether or not they can make it to something. Jaz was working from home most of last week. She didn't tell her boss as soon as the snow fell that she wouldn't be in for the rest of the week. She waited till either the evening before or the morning of work to let her boss know. The same thing has applied at my office. I don't see why a pool match should be any different.

Maybe, the team wanted to play the match and were hopeful of conditions improving and them being able to get there.

Sure it's annoying for pubs or venues that have pre-preprepared food but there are things that can be done. For example, The Holly Bush contacted my team yesterday during the day to make sure we would be attending the pool match last night.
