I think the majority of the committee in general are in favour of keeping the entire county squad at one venue. I believe this promotes a one team attidute and better team spirit. Where as splitting the team it may feel (especially to new comers) as if the county is a collection of different teams rather than a single organisation.

As Gaygan mentions splitting the teams does make life complicated (but not insumountably so) and it might be one of the things we look at over the coming year(s). After all if we keep accumulating teams the way we have been over the last couple of years we may indeed need more tables / space.

I agree it's definately worth considering though i can see it needing a lot of negotiation between the different parties

One Squad, One Venue...

Thats what the Cider says!

You can express a preference when it comes to voting but you should be pleased to play for the Squad at whatever venue is chosen!

Splitting venues will only complicate things in the long run.

I think my sheet from the youth is not complete though, so this list might be subject to change when I look at my other bits of paper at home tonight!

Thanks to everyone who helped run the trials, it can be a bit of a nightmare but lots of people helped out which really did make a massive difference. Well done Sarah, Justine, Nicki, Ben and Browny!

Kenny Broster also reffed a significant number of matches to in the youth trials along with Tim. There were other people helping out to throughout the day and a long day at that.

This isn't a complaint but merely an abservation but it got incredibly stuffy in the front room where the womens and youth were due to the confined space and number of people in there. Put 30 to 40 adults in there and em - well you get the picture.

Not looking forward to a match situation if all four tables in there are used for a home match no. This room should be restricted to only two tables and one team if required at all.......

Yes, there definitely were some issues on Sunday - these didn't go unnoticed.

The mens' toilets were below pa (terry fixed this when he arrived but this was late in the day) and it was a painfully slow start for the youth and women as they only had 2 tables each, and were all squeezed in the back room.

We will definitely bear this in mind for next year, and I will be recommending splitting the trials over 2 days next time.

Apologies to all who were inconvenienceed.

Yeah, as it used to be - much better for the organisers and competitors, especially given the number of trialists these days.

Hmm, unfortunately unless we had held some of the trials on a Saturday there were no other available dates in March this year. It was a similar problem to the one we had with the county championships in February.

1st Sunday was Selsey, 2nd mothers day, 3rd trials, 4th squad day and the first weekend in April is Easter.

What's wrong with a Saturday?  Surely it's better than the delays between frames that occurred on Sunday?  If no suitable Sunday's are available then:

Ladies and Youths on the Saturday

Men's and Seniors on the Sunday

We have for the last year or two tried to keep all county events to a sunday.

As this is the day that county matches take place on, its not fair to expect people to turn out on a Saturday for trials, when they may have work, for example.

We did have complaints about holding trials on a saturday when we did it before.

However, given the severe delays experienced at the weekend, that is not to say we wont go back to ladies/youth trials being on a saturday for next time round.

Various positions on the OCPF committee will be up for election in March
(At AGM - 21 March 2010)

These will include:
Mens County Manager (will be vacant)
Mens Assistant Manager (Ash Penny-Larter)
Youth Manager (will be vacant)
Ladies Captain (Nicki Hoskins)
Seniors Manager (Malcolm Lewis)
Players Representative (Shelly White)
Social Representaive (Jaz Venning)

Some of the current holders may choose not to re-stand for election, when I have been notified of this I will let you know

Role descriptions to follow in due course.

If you are particularly interested in a role and want further information then please contact me at secretary@ocpf.co.uk

I am standing down as manager, cry but if required will continue to captain the "A" team. biggrin

Also Julian Wood will also be standing down from his "B" team position of captain. cry

After deciding to start cutting down on my county pool matches, I think it is only fair to the rest of the team, (and thats if I am still in the As) to withdraw my (above) offer of captaincy, and hope that the manager (Gary) will appoint one of my team mates.

I do know that John Bland and Shaun Taylor are NOT interested if it helps his decision.

See you all on Sunday biggrin
