4; Tim try reading the Rules before spouting off on here, there's not and, to my knowledge, never been a 6 mile limit.
-- Edited by MING on Wednesday 24th of February 2010 03:00:36 PM Actually there was a limit imposed but it was many years back when the league had teams from all over the place in the villages around Abingdon (the good old days) to limit the amount of travelling required. To the best of my knowledge I am not aware of this being dropped or voted out at an AGM so surely that means its still in....but I haven't been to all of them so it might have been.

I can't disagree that there may have been a limit many years ago but can any of the previous Secretaries enlighten us. As I posted earlier, teams from Wantage, Benson & Didcot have played in the league so the limit, if one existed, could not have been less than 10 miles as all these locations are appox 10 miles from the centre of Abingdon.
If the league contained a mileage limit, which to my knowledge it hasn't since I started playing in it in 1995/96, and it was 10 miles (it certainly wasn't 6) then the CHC would automatically fall within that limit, as would most of Oxford and therefore this thread wouldn't have been required.
However as, to my knowledge, the league has never had a team playing from Oxford I thought it prudent to canvas people opinions both via the forum and an email before any official entry application is received.
Personally, I'd like a league that contains teams within a 1 mile radius of the X13 bus stop on Stratton Way, no WR county standard or above players or Manc supporters, but unlike some of the idiots on here, I realise that we can't uninvent the wheel...

Manse wrote:So what are the next steps Minger? EGM/AGM? Each Team Captain votes via e-mail? Trial/let CHC play in the summer league and take it from there?
I shall be sending an email to all teams and those individuals whose emails i have (approx 70) within the next couple of days.
They can ask questions/discuss as teams, before voting. They'll have until Monday 8th March to vote and depending on the result the committee will decide on how to proceed.
I would expect that a close vote either way would result in an EGM, provisionally to take place on Sunday 11th April (closing date for Summer League) and that a substantial vote either way would be accepted without the need for a EGM. No doubt someone will gripe about that, but I'd rather have 50 people voting on it rather than 10 at an hastily arranged EGM, others would have it the other way round.
This final point will also be contained in said email for people to also comment on

The EGM was held last night and the vote on the proposal " to allow Oxford based teams to apply for league entry" was unanimously passed. Entry preference will be given to teams currently playing in the league so any additional teams would either fill any vacant spots or be placed as a reserve in-case a current team doesn't re-enter. The only exception to this scenario would be where there were enough new entries to justify another section.
