Some good play, missed opportunities and tense moments from both teams made for an interesting game last night. We went down fighting but A1 were worthy winners in the end.
Why thank you! It really did feel like a very tense match, we were never more than 1 frame ahead until the last match. Baz wasn't a million miles away from beating Benny 2-0 and that really would have made it tough for us. I was pleased with how our boys knuckled down to get the job done though - decent safety from our last two players to keep it tight. Unlucky cross keys - very close but no cigar I'm afraid!

Great win for the Keys last night! An enormous lifeline in our bid to avoid the drop. This was definitely our best team performance of the season, and the team spirit that had been missing for a while now seems to be back.
It certainly makes next week's return fixture even more interesting

What?! Who's been bribing them to throw games then?
Doesn't really matter anyway because we've got the Lion last, so our destiny is in our own hands

It all came dow to the last match, but Pitfield potted the black early in the first frame, and Alan took out a decent finish to polish the match off in the second. Unlucky team!
Tom Gaughan will be relieved his £250 is safe

We hung on to our Premiership lives (I hope!) by the skin of our teeth last night. After the 1st frame of the 4th match we were 6-2 down and ready to say goodbye to the Prem......somehow we pulled off a great excape though.......and if you saw the final frame of the Chris/Phil match, you'd also be wondering how the hell we managed it!
If the Demos and Crown House A both lost last night, I believe it's a four way battle against relegation with a myriad of possible permutations.......should be a nail-biting last day of the summer season

Just need a win next week and we've got runner up. Was a bit worried we'd fluff it last night as team had been on a bit of a downer following our loss last week to Rileys and losing the league. All the guys played excellently last night though, the only weak link was me
Just need a win next week and we've got runner up.
Er, Jimbo's just pointed out to me that we are already assured of second in the prem as we're at least 4 points clear of third.
Woohoo congrats team!!!
Just a scrap for the relegation spots next week then in our section
cross keys are playing red lion if they draw they are both relegated but if we lose the winner of that game stays up and we are relegated
It's a bit more complicated that that - don't forget to include the Demos in the equation for a start.
If the Demos win or draw, they stay up, regardless of the other results. If they lose, they'll go down if both the Keys and Crown House win.
If the Crown House win or draw, they also stay up regardless of the other results. If they lose, the winner of the Keys/Red Lion game will leapfrog them in to 6th place and send them down.
If the Keys win, they need the Demos and/or Crown House to lose for them to stay up.
If the Red Lion win, they need the Crown House to lose or else they'll still be relegated anyway - and before anyone points it out.......yes, they could mathematically overtake the Demos if they lost but it would need a 16 frame defecit to be wiped out, which is extremely unlikely to happen!
Finally, if the Keys and Red Lion draw, they'll both go down no matter what happens anywhere else.
Phew, I think that covers it!

Jesus Christ, do we like to make life hard for ourselves or what?! We left it to the final ball of the final frame of the final match to avoid relegation - and even then we needed an in off the black to scrape home. You have to feel sorry for Mark.....he thought he'd won the day, only to see the white trickle in seconds later - he must have been gutted! Still, that's pool, and there had to be at least one loser last night.
Well done, lads.....the Keys spirit carried us through in the end (aided by a very vocal Ming ).
Two seasons ago we were down in Section One, so I think we can be proud of how we've managed in the Prem this year, grabbing a couple of great results along the way!
Well......no Thursday Winter League for me, so i'll bid you all farewell for now.....
PS: Kev, if you really want to play for us that badly, you only have to ask
