Oxfordshire 8-Ball Charity Shield
Permalink Closed

I am organising a pool tournament at Crown House Club on Easter Sunday (24th April) to help rasie funds for chosen charity, Parkinsons UK.

I am hoping to run a 64 player knockout tournament (best of 5 up to the QF), £5 entry fee with trophies and prizes for finalists. There will also be football cards and a raffle (with some pretty decent prizes!)

I will decide on a time once I get a feel for how many people are going to turn up.

2 FUN TABLES, £1 A GO, CASH PRIZE

·         14-1 Rules - Break and pot as many balls legally as you can without fouling or missing. Pot the white on the break and start again with a re-rack. Break is a free shot whether you pot or not. After that you must pot every shot until you miss. Highest score wins 20% of takings.

·         10 ball crash - played with numbered balls (1-15). You get 10 shots to pot as many balls as you can. Then the numbers on the balls potted are added up. Highest score wins 20% of takings.

AL PROCEEDS GO TO PARKINSONS UK

If you are interested please leave a little comment below. Many thanks.

Do you have a start time yet Jamie?

Also, if you get 64 people there, using 2 tables as fun tables probably wouldn't be viable to start with.

It would take 4 - 5 hours to get through the first round alone.

Oops yes, start times are on the posters down the CHC but not on here.

11am Registration for an 11:30 start

If I do happen to get 64 (which would be awesome) then I will use all the tables for the 1st round and maybe some of the 2nd round.

Also, if the weather is nice there will be a BBQ out the back.

It was a great day yesterday and I hope everyone who turned up had a good day. Not as many people there as I had hoped and there was a lot of broken promises with people who said they were turning up but didnt (please dont say you will attend if you have no intention to)

Having said that, around 20 players battled it out for the shield and Marc Reynolds came out victorious after beating Anthony Stopp in the final. Ash Penny-Larter scraped past his wife Emma to win the Plate.

The fun tables were both won by me with scores of 22 on '14-1' and 104 on '10 Ball Crash'. I have to admit Ben Scott was on a score of 20 on '14-1' with balls hanging over the bags before dropping his cue on to a ball ... unlcuky Ben!

The raffle prizes went down well and Janet Timms won the auction of £200's worth of driving lessons with a winning bid of £155. Thank you to Phil Hearne for donating smile

The weather was lush and the BBQ went down a treat (Thank you Warren for cooking everything)

Thank you to the Crown House Club for letting me hold the tournament. I hope you made a bit behind the bar and hopefully I will be back next year to run a much bigger event. Also thanks to Ash and Emma for the hard work you have put in to make yesterday a success smile

Total raised was £518.
