Good work - We're hoping to join you after our trip to Witney next weekend...
Cheers Ash. Good luck next weekend!
I think I equalled Ming's record of 3 DFs in one frame, Sammy Donaldson was awesome and Pete was unlucky not to make it 4-4. But the highlight of the night, apart from my driving, was Sheba strutting around the table on his break and dish - If only The Trammps 'Disco Inferno' was on in the background!!!
Well, we had a great weekend at the Golden Cue, where we reached the last 16 and were oh so close to qualifying for the Quarter-Finals!
Prelim: Walkover win 5-0 against the Bowling Green
1st Round: Won 5-1 against The Pig & Whistle - a live streaming on the EPA website added a little pressure!
2nd Round: Won 5-3 against Q Ball, Essex (Jimmy Carney's team)
3rd Round: Won 5-4 against Longton Snooker Club - probably our best result as we were 0-1 down after we missed our name being called and 2-4 down needing to win the last three frames.
Last 32: Won 5-2 against Riley's, Worcester - a strong team, but we were on fire by this point!
Last 16: Lost 4-5 against The Rat Pack (Joe Flaherty Jnr's team). Went 2-0 up before they fought back to lead 4-3 after I went in-off the break and my opponent cleared up. Browny got us level, but in the decider JFK went in-off trying to lay a safety and that was that!
Rat Pack went on to win their Quarter-Final and were then beaten in the Semi's by the eventual winners, Corby Snooker & Pool.
Overall, a great performance. Browny topped the stats (of course) with only two, or was it three, losses all tournament. But Kinseywang and myself also showed some bloody good form at times.
Thanks to PoolQueen, Manse, Burt and Ming for cheering us on. Sadly Manse's team lost 5-4 in the second round after getting a walkover in the first round.
Very well done Ash, Browny and Kinseywang! Sounds like a great performance Browny said something about there being over 300 teams in the tournament overall, so last 16 is an excellent result.
And not only that, you timed it just right to get Browny back for county too... perfection!
