Actually FTR I told you before the match I couldn't play next week out with work colleagues
FTR the first 5 frames had no more than 3 visits in each frame
Benny Woo broke, potted several looked like a clear, he missed left nothing, i attempted a pot that wasnt really there and he cleared.
I broke went for the dish messed up position on last ball, he potted snookered me which i escaped and then he cleared up - not much tyou can do against that is there......

Would have been a completely different game had Gee not made the most ludicrous refereeing decision I have ever seen!
But there we go.
If's, but's and maybe's.
elaborate...
but lets face it, unless Gee was refing every match it'd made bugger all difference, you'd have still lost...
Looks like the Cross Keys need some anger management lessons

Well we were 2-0 down & baz was 1-0 up against gary cosier, baz went down to play a long black to make it 2-2 when one of the reds moved near to barry's hand, Gee called a foul & baz said he never touched any ball? Gee said he didn't actually see baz hand touch any ball but saw the red move close to his hand? so thats why he called a foul? Gary said he never see it & that it was up to the ref, we were all watching & nobody seems to of seen baz touch the red?
IMHO i think it changed the whole night we were pissed because we were now 4-1 down

Then surely your captain should've queried it, the ref can't give a foul if he didn't see it... more than likely the table moved when fat boy got down to play his shot lol.
Must be the standard of refereeing in the Thursday League these days

We all did query it but the decision still stood? What more could we of done other than cause a mass brawl
the reason y ive decided to come on the forum now is to plead my innocence. i never said i didnt see the ball move and assume he must of hit it. i said and even told matty hearne when we both in the toilets(for the record we did make love lol) the reason y i called it a foul is because i generally thought he moved the red with his hand thats y i thought the red moved because i thought he moved it by mistake. so i believe i have a good reason for calling it a foul. And barry if u didnt move then sorry but wasnt done for the cause of cheating.

Well that's cleared that up...NOT
Either you saw him move the ball with his hand or you didn't ? Lots of "I thought" and "assumptions" going on
Maybe the ball moved due to an earthquake we'll never know

I believe the League Rules (which I'm certain you're fully conversant with) allow for the Team Captains to confer where there is a dispute.
Based on the Referee only thinking & assuming that the ball moved due to Baz touching it with his hand and Baz denying it, then you have to take the players word in this instance. If Baz knowing touched it and didn't call a foul then, in the long run, he's only cheating himself.

AAhh!! Mr Gee..... x x Nice of you to join us. Yes you did try to explain to me in the toilets (along with your advances ) & i always trust the ref's decitions so im not saying you cheated & im not saying Baz was lying just that when the foul was called im sure you said that you wasn't sure if Baz had touched the red or not hence alot of confusion from the keys as to why the foul had been called?
See you tonight baby......

Gee may be a lot of things, but a cheater isn't one of them. I'm sure he fully believed it was a foul. As much as I love the Cross Keys lot, and they are good fun, I think they sometimes feel unnecessarily hard done by because of the rules.
I'd like to remind them of how much of a fuss they kicked up in the Semi of the Thursday KO a few weeks ago. Matty breaks against Jaz, doesn't get a ball, then tells the ref the balls weren't racked right in some way and gets a re-rack (rest assured if I hadn't been playing Malc in the mixed doubles at the time the re-rack wouldn't have happened). From what I can remember he kicked up quite a fuss about the situation and tried to make out as if Jaz was in the wrong for suggesting he shouldn't get a second chance at breaking.
For the record if the balls are not racked correctly and you break, it's a foul, and your opponent gets a shot and a visit. You do not get to re-rack the balls and have another crack at it.
At the end of the day, over the course of a season referees decisions will sometimes go for you and sometimes against you. Providing the referee genuinely believes the decision they have made is right, I have no issue. You won't catch me whinging that had Matty not re-racked the balls Jaz might have beaten him 2-0 instead of 2-1, which could have been crucial to the outcome of the match, or that had Browny actually been watching the frame he was refing at county a week or two ago I would have had 2 shots when my opponent clearly hit the black before his own ball.
Personally, I think having a referee is a complete waste of time 95% of the time; most don't want to ref / pay attention / know the rules. This would also alleviate any possibility that the balls are racked wrongly or loose as the player due to break would set their own rack up. Incidently, I believe in World Rules; if the balls are racked wrongly and no one queries it, both players are deemed to have accepted the rack and no penalty is incurred once the break has ocurred.
In most big tournaments you don't have a ref for each match but have roaming refs who can be called upon to overlook a particular shot.
I find that if I commit a foul that I'm unable to see (touching ball with clothing for example) the watching players will call it and I'll begrudgingly accept their word.
If in this case Baz touched the ball then I'm sure he would have called it. Where doubt exists, as it did in this instance, then his word should have been accepted unless it's clear to everyone the ball's moved several inches.
It's certainly not fair to suggest the Gee was cheating but as I said earlier there are a number of factors that could have led Gee to think a foul had been committed.
At the end of the day, the two captains could've sorted it out there and then rather than the losers (what a surprise) bitchin about it afterwards...

Anyway you just said you were playing malc in the mixed doubles so you were not even in the same room Ben, so as for the comment "From what i remember" you wasn't there blimey there really are some **** stirers out there

Thats life.........
Actually ben & this hasn't anything to do with this topic but FYI Phil racked them up, i broke & BEFORE the balls stopped moving i said i think you racked them up with the first red on the black spot instead of the black? in turn he said yes i think your right & asked shall i re-rack them so i said yes with which Jaz said o.k? & hardly put up a fight about it? If rules are rules & we made a mistake then Jaz should also know the rules & should of said so at the time but she was clearly not bothered as she let us re-rack them?
I never kicked up a fuss mate so dont start that one!! the actual subject we are talking about was only mentioned because Ming asked so i told him & if you read my posts again i am clearly NOT whinging!! merely stating what happened.
Ben was playing his mixed doubles on the table next to us, so he was in the room. He noticed some commotion but didn't know the ins and outs of what was going on until I explained later. He has slightly over-exaggerated the level of agro involved on both sides - we did actually resolve the issue fairly quickly and peacefully - by me backing down. And saying it impacted the result of the match is prob taking it a bit far, but... you never know
I do however STRONGLY dispute that you made your call before the balls had stopped moving. I had been strolling around the table for at least a minute looking at what shot to take from the open table before me, and final got down to take my selected shot when I astonished to be informed that you and the ref had decided you should break again.
We had a little to and fro about whether that was fair, I tried quite hard to stand my ground that you should not re-break. I do know the rules but no one was listening to me. I most certainly did not simply say Oh OK. In fact I remember one of your teammates (Barry?) saying our dispute would be all over the forum later... Ultimately it was you and the ref against me, and you eventually said something along the lines of well "carry on then if it means that much to you" rather petulantly, and I decided that rather than get upset and cause a scene about it I would just let you get on on with it and try and win anyway.
It never occurred to me that I deserved 2 shots in the circumstances - though maybe ben has a point - but I really didn't see why after taking the break you should be allowed another crack under any circumstances. I still don't.
No one will ever know if had balls gone in off the original break you would have still reracked the balls and tried again...
But it would have spoiled the atmosphere of the whole match to have made a big scene about it, so we both just moved on, which was probably the best course of action all round. However, don't think you'll be getting away with it again!!

Are you implying that the Keys are a bunch of whingers? Though I no longer play on Thursdays, I can assure you that isn't (and wasn't) the case. Whenever we had a grievance, we brought it to the forum because we genuinely thought that we'd been wronged or whatever.......maybe so that we could stop similar incidents happening in the future, or to highlight areas where a genuine problem existed. We didn't do it just for the fun of it. It's no different to you stating that Gee man genuinely thought that he'd correctly called a foul and isn't a cheater......you're only stating your case just the same as us.
It seems to me that everybody's always so quick to jump on the Keys whenever we threaten to upset the forum equlibrium.......or perhaps that's just me feeling 'unnecessarily hard done by'
I was playing on the table next to you, not in the other room, but didn't see exactly what happened.....
I know Jaz certainly felt that you and your team put her under pressure to allow you to have the balls re-racked and I know she was of the opinion that you shouldn't have had the re-rack and voiced that opinion to you at the time. And it makes no difference that the balls hadn't stopped! Also, you had no reason to kick up more of a fuss than you did as you got your way.....
But all excuses and agro aside all I'm saying is that sometimes reffing decisions go your way and sometimes they don't, it's the same for everyone and you just have to hope that the person reffing your game a. knows the rules, b. actually bothers to watch the match and c. isn't a cheat!

Jaz,
I had never been in a situation like that before & wasn't trying any under hand tactics to cheat! it was a genuine mistake, last thing i want to do is fall out about it, afterall its just pool.
It clearly upset you that night so my apologies, i just highlighted to the ref that i thought he'd racked them up incorrect, with which the ref agreed he had & we decided to re-rack, i dont remember being rude about it to you?

Its OK, no hard feelings. I know the confusion arised because of a difference of opinion/lack of clarity in the rules, not because you were deliberately trying to cheat (which I think links in to the point Benny was trying to make re Gee, but we got a little sidetracked).
Yes I did beat you anyway (benefits of the moral high ground, lol ), but I actually lost that frame, hence Benny saying it could affected the final outcome.
Well I havn't called Gee a cheat, and I dont think any of the Cross Keys team have.
A few people who are popping up here wernt there when it happened, so butt out....
ALL we are saying is it was a horrendous decision to call a foul when he hadnt seen Baz move the balls!
Who gives a flying f**k what happened at this match one year ago, that match 2 years ago and whatever. We are talking about last weeks match.
That is all.
The Keys and my team are enjoying a bit of healthy debate about an issue that occured in the KO semi about 3 weeks ago. If you're not interested then just butt out.
I just hate people jumping to conclusions and saying we are "bitching" just because we lost...no, we are telling it how it is.
And other comments suggesting we have said Gee is a cheat. I know Gee is not a cheat, I have utmost repsect for him like I do for all my opponents, but perhaps he should put his beer down for a couple of minutes whilst reffing and concentrate.
You only came on to the topic of the match 3 weeks ago because Ben has suggested that the Keys "kick up a fuss at every opportunity" which I also think is a harsh comment.
This would look great in the back pages of the Sun, but unfortunately they're busy with Sepp Blatter and chums.
