Thought this might be worth a look.


 


As one of the few players, (maybe the only one) left playing Oxfordshire POOL from the very beginning, (year dot) I have 3 questions for you to (sensibly) guess on:


 


1. Which year did the first Oxfordshire Pool league start and where?


2. Which year did the first Oxford Pool league start and which night?


And as I played in both of those first seasons


3. Which year do you think I started playing pool?  Aging Man (Again, don’t forget to be sensible if you can)

Being serious though - Oxford League wise, I think it was around 1982, and was the original incarnation of the Thursday league, and you played for the Queens Arms?

The way you've worded it hints at an earlier Oxfordshire based league though, so perhaps you even date back to the late 70's?

It was earlier than 1982 as my first trophy was from the Lucy sponsored league which I think was on Monday nights for finallists in the doubles and it was in 1981.

OK I’ll give you the date of "when they were formed" each league, every so often, running backwards.


 


First up is:


The Oxford (mile) Pool League (Tuesday Night’s) formed in 2003


(Paul Chambers, Maria Oliver, & yours truly)
