There is also a NEW knockout competition being introduced this year. We are introducing a two-man team competition. Cost of entry will be £4 in line with other comps.
You enter as a pair, and each member of the partnership will play a single frame against each of the opposition players. If either pair wins 3 out of the 4 singles games the match is over. If it is 2-2 then a single frame of scotch doubles shall be played to determine the winning pair.
This is a great comp, and the format is one of my personal favourites. It will be fine to enter both the doubles and the two-man as the comps will not be put on the same night - we will include some bank holiday monday fixtures in the forthcoming season to accomodate the extra competition.
The same rules as per the doubles applies - the lead player of the partnership must play 4 matches during the season.
Those of you with forms/monies for the forthcoming season to hand in - the presentation night tonight at the Crown House might provide a good opportunity to get your entries in to me! Bring them along!
The perfect start to the new season for us with a 5-0 win at the Cricketer's Arms to give us the six points.
I say perfect in so much as the result rather than the manner of it, as we were all guilty of a few sloppy shots (especially me), but the scorecard tells a different story!
A 5-1 away win for us against the North Oxford Conservative Club last night. Not sure who played who as I had a night off, but wins from Nicki, Stoppa, Old Man Millar, and Jamie Power and a loss for Greg Warland. Should keep us top for at least another week!
We had a very close game against the Crown House Chicks on Monday. We won it 6-0, but that doesn't tell the story as all five matches were 2-1 wins for us. Kate was one black ball away from beating me 2-1, but left herself bridging over my last ball, Ash P-L had to rely on two length of the table doubled blacks (and a re-rack) to beat Jaz 2-1. Stoppa, Jamie Power and Keith wrapped up maximum points but all had to work hard for them (not sure who they played). Very unlucky to loose so heavily playing like that as a team, Ms. Secretary!
Well the wheels really came off last night Rileys 3 midget 2 Pete 2 0 mark cooper Jfk 0 2 dave mahon Streety 2 1 rob ford Manse 0 2 andy fathers Coops 0 2dan malone But never fear we will be back
another great win for us last night that's the double over Demos A this season :) 10 wins from 12 matches is some achievement especially as we're a section 2 team. Our winning record this season is as good as the top section 1 teams which maybe has never happened before, as for rob on current form he's one of the best players around
