Bit of an up-anddown match for us at Peachcroft last night:
Peachcroft Social Club 6-8 Crown House Club'A'
Jamie Saczak 1-2 Peter Debanks
Frankie Merola 1-2 Adam Brown
Phil Hearne 0-2 Pete Maconochie
Matt Hearne 2-1 Ash Fletcher
Pom Merola 2-1 Keith Taylor
Boinky held his nerve in a close match with Jamie, before Browny was a very lucky boy as one black in the middle would have meant a 0-2 loss. Frankie just missed it and Adam ground out the win. Pete dispatched Phil and I won the first frame to give us the match and a 7-2 lead. Matt and I both played terribly though and the final match betwee Pom and Keith wasn't exactly a crowd pleaser so the match kind of fizzled out to an 8-6 win for us. Had Browny lost 2-0 then it might have been a very different matter!
We played our rearranged game against Crown House 'B' last night. Bit of a shakey start, but all good in the end!
Crown House 'A' 9-4 Crown House 'B'
Peter Debanks 1-2 Tommy Cooper
Adam Brown 2-0 Darren Haines
Pete Maconochie 2-0 David Hook
Ash Fletcher 2-1 Billy Young
Keith Taylor 2-1 Robbie Cooper
Good to see a new team on youngish lads in the Premier Section. They can certainly all pot well and a bit of match craft and experience that you get in the top section will help them - they certainly won't be out of their depth and I predict they will take a few scalps this season.
We went 5-0 up in this one, only to struggle to get over the winning line until Boinky got his decider against Aaron. What-what then succumbed to Rob, so it ended up looking closer than it was.

Yep, well done. Tis a funny old game. 5-1 certainly flattered us, but to then go on a 6-frame losing streak was quite a reversal of fortunes.
midget 5 catty wheel 6 sean 0 altaf 2 charli 2 scooby 0 charli was quality baz 0 hasan 2 baz 2 missed blacks cost him dearly and hasan cleared up very well . hard to believe he's only 12 peanut 2 trinder 0 dish from trinders break tashy 1 stoppa 2 break n dish for me. quite ironic this match which i think stoppa will admit he was fortunate to win
probably not the result they were expecting and probably feel extremely fortunate to have scraped the win

well played catherine wheel
You should be happy that you broke and dished! You would have lost 2-0!

Not a vintage display again - especially from me, but we won.
LBJ 2-1 Scotty
Pete Mac 2-1 Jaz
Boinky 2-1 Max
Me 0-2 JFK
Browny 2-0 Burt
Too early to write them off, but that puts Cricketer's a little off the pace, so it's increasingly looking like a 3-horse race for the title now between us, Peachcroft and The Catty Wheel.
I'm looking forward to checking tomorrow's edition. Will the headline be 'Brown conquers local Witney legend.' or 'Adam steps in the brown stuff in Witney.'
We went 1-0 down and then didn't lose a frame. Slightly different to our encounter with Tashy's lot earlier in the season when we were 5-0 up and managed to lose!
We were due to play Scooby's team from The Catherine Wheel, but he couldn't get a team together, and despite only getting 8 hours notice we decided not to claim the game as it would potentially spoil a great battle for the winners and runners-up spot at the end of the season. An alternative date will be set ASAP.
