I'm happy to announce that the gown team this year will be:

Zander Khan (C) - Merton

Frankie Bostock - St. Hugh's

Dunstan Barnes - St. Catz

Geraint Morgan - Merton

Alex Brodkin - LMH

Danny Binnington - St. Catz

Ian Ewart - HMC

So we have two of last year's side still here - including Malc's conquerer last time around.

No, they're not students.  Oh, I see, you mean them playing for the Town?

Come on then, lets have everyone's suggestions what Beefy might be up to this weekend........

a) Practicing walking into a pool club without  knocking every cue in sight over??

b) Standing in the street, telling every passer by how fantastic the mighty Tandem are??

c) Reading through Blackball rules, wondering how to make one frame last all night??

any guesses??

Hey I might have been the first to knock the cues over in the darkest of corners in colours Yesterday but I certainly wasn't the only one !

Our survey said UH-UH to the others as well.

On paper I would put that team down to win at least 5-2 against nearly any side in Oxford but as I don't know the students I would have to say that given three are playing on their own table, I would go for a 4-3 win to town.

Wins from Malc, Kevin, Jimmy and Richard.

But in the true spirit of any match one of the above will probably get an upset.....

Did none of them offer the winners a drink - understandable if the winners did not take one of your team but still in the spirit of competition and the league rules - shame on them !

Unfortunately one of the Gown team has had to pull out, so Alex Brodkin (LMH) will be replaced by Eugene Chubarov (Somerville).

I'm afraid that another of my team has withdrawn as he has to go home at the weekend for unforeseen reasons. So Lei Xiao (Somerville) will replace Geraint Morgan (Merton).

Sorry about the late changes - I originally finalised the team over 2 weeks ago so I am more annoyed than anyone about having to change things.

Welcome to the Forum, Zander.

Hope it's a good match. I think the Town will win 6-1 this year, based on the names entered. Though Ian had a good win over Nathan on Monday, and the Gown always seem to play above themselves in this event (no disrespect, but there are some BIG names in the Town team), so you never know!

I for one am looking forward to it.  Played for the first time last year and had a really good day.

Hopefully my current form might of improved a bit by saturday (apologies in advance Malc!!)

Does look like a strong team Malc.  Let's see how it goes!

Will anyone be popping down to give some support? (obviously to the students, because I know alot of people on here would love to see them win)

What about you PQ?  If you think some of us wont show, bring your cue, you might get a game!

It was a good day Malc.

The bump on my head has just about gone down (no doubt the report will explain to all what I am on about!!) Never seen play with a rest like it before!!

I thought we were looking at a 7-0 at one point.  Obviously the "encouragement" that we were all giving Tom, didn't work....

Will look forward to next year, few more beers too...

Yup, the best of Irish encouragement.  Funny how it all went very quiet when my game went 2-2.
