Potter, YOu and Pete is not that dissimilar from You, Me and Jamey its one thing qualifying its another getting all 4 players to the finals -
World Rules as well which no one plays other than in part time roles in competitions ! If Hazel had her way I a ms ure she would have world rules in Abingdon
If Hazel had her way I'm sure she would have world rules in Abingdon

Ash - it looks like both teams are playing at 10:30am.
Yes mate. Does that mean we might be draw against each other in one of the early rounds? Would have preferred a little bit more of a lie-in! We'll be getting there around 6pm on Friday. See you then...
We got the 9.30 slot last year so at least you didn't get that draw. Last year they had the qtr on for a pro event and that was well worth a look is it on again this year Hazel because no doubt you are going to ref again ?

No I'm not going this year Beefy. There are 3 professional events down to the quarters on the IPA site so one of these will surely take place this weekend.
Isty, Nathan and Dave Lewis lost 5-2 (I think) in the Quarters. Great achievement and very well done guys. Could have been so different if Isty had missed a double to win the deciding frame in the first round!
We (JFK, Keith Taylor and myself) were pretty poor losing 5-2 in first round. I was especially rubbish! John then got to the third round of the Singles before narrowly losing following a great comeback from 0-2 down.
What kind of prize money did you get for losing in the quarters. Great achievement winning 5 matches at that level. Congratulations who did you lose too, the eventual winners by any chance ?

We had some great nail bitting matches, I played a couple of deciders at 4-4, once in the first round then again in the 2nd when we was 4-0 up and they managed to come back to 4-4 Played against some c0cky london team who had won their previous matches 5-0, 5-0, 5-0 until they got the burn from us 5-3
Eventually lost in the quarters 5-2 to a team with a x top 16 pro and a couple of tour players, even though we only had our selves to blame - Nathan not spotting the right shot (world rules DF) and me for pumping my penultimate ball into the middle pocket rather than stroking it in and coming of 2 cushions, and Dave for missing a penultimate 'sitter''
Even though we got to the quarters we never really got comfortable/ used to with the tables (speed, cushions etc) as we arrived Friday at 9pm and that was to late for the flyers. Had approx 6 games in the practise room where the tables were complete garbage, apart from that it was all match play. *Note to self arrive earlier next year or possibly on the Thursday, unless there's a finals night that finishes at 3am* (still knackered from that now)
Still managed to bag £500 for are troubles but it could have easily have been £1200 with the exception of a couple of loose shots
£500 smackers not bad a free weekend then by the sounds of it. How ****y were those London lads when you sent them packing 5 - 3. I thought the Golden Cue was for amatuers I guess they allow X pro's and tour players in.
The world rules DF is not something most players look at unless they play those rules because its the only game I know that allows a diliberate foul. There is an interesting argument about knocking your opponents balls in during Blackball games to get an advantage because of the skill shot rule but thats as close as it gets but this is not a deliberate foul as you have played your ball first. In world rules you can do anything you like at any time without incurring loss of frame because of deliberately fouling !
Yep we went last year and I thought the same thing the tables were quick and a very good standard. The games room tables are like pub tables and therefore offer little in the way of a practice option. It is a great weekend albeit a bit short if you get there on the friday evening and leave on the Sunday.
I know last year Nathan went on the Friday and qualified for the masters so there is an option to play if you want to participate in the other comps / event they have over the weekend. The flyers were only best of 5 last year and started around 6pm and there's is about 40 tables in that place to.
EPA does not allow practice on the tables before events in some respects maybe Blackball county finals should follow suit so games can start and finish on time and its equal to everyone that way.

Crown 4-5 Colours Nick Mansell W-L Ash Fletcher Marcus Guise W-L John Kinsey Adam Poole W-L Pete Maconochie Nick Mansell L-W John Kinsey Marcus Guise L-W Pete Maconochie Adam Poole L-W Ash Fletcher Nick Mansell W-L Pete Maconochie Marcus Guise L-W Ash Fletcher Adam Poole L-W John Kinsey
Adam had two shots on the black in the deciding frame, but it was in an awkward spot and he left himself no shot. Quarter of an inch further with the white and he'd have won it for them. JFK then cooley cleared (including a trademark double) to take us through to the finals from 0-3 and 3-4 down.
Due to people dropping out at the last minute (after I sent the cheque for accommodation) - we can no longer make this event. if anyone who entered and did not qualify and would still like to attend/compete? Get in touch with me and I'll arrange the your entry and Chalet booking.
Does it have to be people who entered the competition ?
Can't you read as well as write Beefy?
Surely the EPA wouldn't allow teams that have lost to re-enter? Can you verify this Isty? I'd have thought you might be able to get a refund though.
Hello Hazel
After speaking to Mike Perkins? he was happy to give the place to the team we put out. And going on past experiences I've seen teams at Yarmouth that were previously knocked out in the prelims. On that basis I can only assume it would be ok for another team from our region to take our place instead. Regarding a refund - he said the treasurer was a hard man to get hold of and he'll do his best to contact him. Funny, I could have sworn the Cheques was written out to Vauxhall Holiday Park
Due to people dropping out at the last minute (after I sent the cheque for accommodation) - we can no longer make this event.
Which of your ever-reliable team mates have let you down then mate? That's a real shame though, especially given your good run last year.
I know the rules make special provision for allowing the team who lost to you into the finals (when you don't pay your accommodation fees in time for example), but I wouldn't necessarily assume it would be OK for any of the region entrants to take your place though.
Having asked Chris Jones, it would need dispensation from Alan Benton for a losing team to take your place. But I guess if Mike Perkins has OK'd it it's ok. I'll see if my team would like to replace you.
