Crash, bang, whallop.

That was the sound of me falling over from the shock of Beefy's statement.....

Even we agree sometimes just not that often !

The price of drinks was almost as shocking as the ability of their 'B' Team. Just glad I ws working this morning and not 'on the sesh'!

Top marks for the tables though.

I am not suprised in a way about the quality of the tables seeing as the club belongs to Stephen Lee's Dad ! I wonder if that also explains the drink prices, maybe thats where part of his sponsorship for the professional tour comes from.

I had not seen a professional standard snooker table before and there where several noticable differences when comparing to the others in there.

1. The lights where mounted to the ceiling instead of in a canopy suspended above the table like on the TV and I would guess much brighter being as they are tubes instead of bulbs.

2. The slate was constantly being heated by an under table heater and it was quite warm when you touched the cloth

3. The pockets where the same width at the edge where the balls drop which surprised me going on what flash had said to me earlier that day about the pockets on it being as tight as hell. The were however cut differently they were not rounded off openings like normal tables instead straighter making the jaws smaller and thus appearing tighter.

4. The cloth was much better like comparing a West of England to a normal baise on a pool table.

Wouldn't have minded a frame on it but the day was long enough as it was maybe next time. I was suprised when Pete Rundle said that anyone could use it the only difference was it was £7 per hour instead of £5 for the others.

Great result for the 'B' team yesterday who won a close match against Berkshire 'C' in Caversham, Reading, 14-13.

A very close match with our lead never being more than two frames throughout and after being 10-8 up they clawed back to 12-12 and 13-13 before we just managed to edge it.

3 out of 3 for Tom Williams and Ash Penny-Larter, and a 'baptism of fire' return of my old mate LBJ to the team who got dished twice!

Congratualtions go to Oxford A and Oxford Youth team for their wins agaisnt Berkshire but unfortunately the B's did not complete the hat trick as they lost having beaten them away.

The ladies had only played 13 frames at the point I left @ 4.30pm so can not comment there maybe one of them will post the final score on here.

I thought it  was kind of Ironic really that one of the Berkshire ladies madies a comment of only playing on one table when everyone else had finished before 4pm and at that point said they had played 8 frames, this from a team who makes all there oppoisition play on one table. Now they know how it feels to be hanging around at a one table venue when your the away team

Results from Yesterdays fixtures -

Oxford B - 15 West Berks 12 now we have to wait for the remaining fixtures to see how the table finished going into next months nationals.

Jimmy Cairns, Nathan Ball and Keiran Doherty (I think) all got 3/3

Keith Hollis 2/3

Marcus Guise, Ash Fletcher, Ben Scott, Jamey Street (I think) 1/3

Strong side as Oxford had to win nut a dissapointing last leg stopped it from being much better 6-3,6-3,3-6 leg scores.

John any idea how the rest of the matches that were played yesterday went ?

The Ladies won 11-10 yesterday away at Bristol Ladies to win the match, top the group, and qualify for the finals for the third (I think) year running.

Well done Girls, that has to be the highlight of the year in terms of winning the group for the first time I think ? Hopefully the Girls will feel confident at Finals and maybe get through the group stage for the first time as well

Yes it was a great result yesterday.

We made a nail biting recovery from 9-7 down to win 11-10, which was really something special.  It's not the first time this season we've fought back from the brink of defeat to snatch victory.  I'm so proud of the girls, who all did fantastically to pull it back, and truely have the best team spirit I have known in a team.

Unless I am very much mistaken, this is the second year in a row the girls have topped the region actually Beefy!

Bring on the Nationals, this year I think, Oxford ladies are the team to watch!

Eeeep.  I stand corrected.
I'm sure i can't have just magiced that thought out of nowhere (tho maybe i did)
Is there any chance I was thinking about the previous year?  I think I must've been.
Do you have the scores for that John?
