I have just received confirmation that Interleague for 2006 is back on. The EPA have given up special dispensation to play with 4 teams. Abingdon, Witney, Bicester Select and Bicester County Club. All matches will be played at Colours. Team knockout on 16th July, 11.30 for a 12 noon start. Interleague on 13th August, same time. I'll email the details to all who have already registered with the Abingdon team and I have email addresses for.
If anyone else is interested in playing for us please contact me ASAP. I know I can't make the July date as I'm away on the Ladies tour but I'm ok for the August date.
The team as previously registered are:-
Hazel Dabrowski. (Captain). Keith Hollis. * Raymond Sturgess. * Jamey Street. Laura Bentley. * Rob Perkins. * Greg Warland. Pete Maconochie. Marcus Guise. * Jimmy Cairns.
* = I have email address.
Top 2 teams are guaranteed a place at National finals, Knockout is 7/8th October 2006 and Interleague finals in April next year. Date TBC.
We should have won the first 5 frames in the first leg but only managed to secure two Myself and Colin. It would have been a different story had the chances been taken in those first few frames.
I felt the teams were an even match just we had several players who were unfamiliar to the rules and this did not help.
Two wins for me against Dave Crawford and someone called Dazzler.
I was dissapointed about the lack of commitment shown by County Club who turned up with 6 players.
This gifted their opponents 6 frames and although they went on to win after scores of 9 - 9 it meant we finished 4th on frames. County went on to win the 3 man play off.
We could have managed 3rd had they had a full team as they only lost 3 of the 12 frames played and I am sure with Tom Weeks, Nathan Ball and James Thorpe present they would not have manged one frame before losing 4 so if third place does get to go I can only say we would have to feel hard done by.
Can't remember all our winners but I think it was as follows.
Colin 1, Pete 1, Jamey 1, Keith 2 and one other not sure who..... nice to see some of the Oracle B players their. I felt the odd one out and not becuase I won 2 but becuase it was mostly the Oracle players representing Abingdon.
